Ok well not quite but ive got a huge seed of doubt now firmly planted!

Ive always loved TM stuff, and in spring this year pretty much changed my whole set up

TM Supersteel Burner Irons OUT - TM Burner 09 Irons In.
TM Supersteel Woods OUT - TM Burner 08 3/5w In
Ping G2 Driver Out - TM Burner 09 Driver in.
+ Vokey 52* and TM Z 60* in...

Now with the exceptiong of going back to regular steel in my irons, from stiff graphite everything was hunky doorey, good days were really good, bad days were bad, but not down to clubs but more the fact of swing issues which have been worked on including a complete new grip.

So around 3 weeks ago i asked the pro i was having lessons with if he thought my irons were correct for me. He stated that maybe i could have gone with stiff steel shafts but other than that he didnt see any issues ( SEED ONE PLANTED - Are my shafts right)

After having aa few issues with my 60* TM Z Smoke wedge i made a decision to opt to a 56 or 58 wedge and drop the 60, so this morning i popped to my local american golf to try the Mizzy MP T10 wedges. Now i should state that at present me and my old trusty 52* vokey have a pretty strong bond, but as its an old wedge i thought so so many shops doing the MP t10's cheap is could be logical to get a matched set of wedges. Vokey was a option, so was the TM Smoke but i opened my mind and tried a few.

So after a peak around what was there, i got the hop assistant to sort out 3 wedges,

56 Vokey (Already got the 52 so shouldnt feel weird)
56 TM Smoke (Already got the 60 so shouldnt feel weird)
56 MIzzy MPT10.

30 balls later and ive got the 52 mizzy taped up and the idea of vokey or TM Z Smoke have firmly gone!

NOw after a long chat with the assistant, it turns out the only main difference is the fact that the mizzy is forged. the feel and balance on the MPT10's were awesome, and the strike tape showed so much more consistancy from the strike spot, this has now got me thinking about their irons.

HELP...............!!!!!

Which irons are best for the handicapper around 15 (12 on a good day)

The MX100 & MX200 looked rather sexy............

MX 300's maybe even the MP 53.
200's are good and should be cheaper but they have been superceded by the 30's. If you're improving the 53's will see you right for a good few years.
And at least if you by the 53's you know they will be current for a couple of years.

to be honest my mid/long iron play is my weekest point of my game in my opinion. after a few lessons a few things come to light:

A: Swing plane was flat on the back swing and high on the down swing/follow through, we have now changed this to a steeper take away and flatter follow through to get a more even swing plane which is working, this also with more turn and less hip slide

b: a new grip, away with the strong grip and the new neutral grip is starting to click

with my iron play being week im thinking a more "game improving" iron may be more benificial, i suupose ideally i should get the new swing ingrained then maybe opt for a custom fit. just seems some of the older range of mizzy irons are a real bargin at the moment. not really got £600+ spare money floating for new irons when i only got my burners last april/may @ £450.00 HID would do her nut!!!!!

doger i agree, when i have the option of a vokey at £90.00, or a matched pair of wedges at £110, its a no brainer. if it wasnt for the fact it was christmas id no doubt buy the matched 60* to have the flexiility through the summer

I've played with both the mx and mp range of irons and we have the same handicap. When I'm on,, probably same as you, I could compete well with the mp60's but when I wasn't quiete there they did nothing to help. I now have the mx25's and they are as capeable as the mp60's but more forgiving so for me the best of both worlds. Your choice but I know how great mizzy irons look, don't be fooled, their better irons really are for the better player. I would start with the mx range and get down to single figures or there abouts before moving onto the mp's if you must though there are plenty of them on ebay like these below

The 200's and 300's are now history. They have been replaced with the new JPX800 and JPX800Pro. I reckon you should test the latter. I've had my MX23's for about 5 or 6 years now, and I'm thinking of going to the Mizuno fitting centre at Clays near Wrexham to try out the JPX800Pro's.

Fwiw. And I'm no expert. But the MX300 is a really good set of clubs. Aimed squarely at your h'cap level, but forgiving enough for higher h'cappers to use. Even I can use the 4 iron! That doesn't mean to say that even better players can't use them.

On a good day even the gorgeous MP68's are playable, but way out of my league. The MX100's are cast and have huge offset, the MX200's are forged with less offset, but are ugly and still quite large. The MX300 are a great compromise between the MP (better player) clubs and the old MX clubs.

MX range now replaced by the JPX800 (cast) and the JPX Pro (forged). But in reality the MX300 and MP52 gave been replaced by the MP53.

Just to give you the breakdown. The MX300 longer irons have milled out cavity backs and the 8 to PW are solid backed. So a good compromise all round.

Okay. So I'm biased. I have a set. And you won't see me changing them for a while.

Hmmmmm I like the milled option of the mx300 on the linger irons , s friend played with ben Sayers irons in 94, 2i-7i were cavity, 8i-sw were blades so almost the same principle

ive just emailed that user, thanks steve,.

No probs mate any time,if these guys say the clubs are in good condition then they are there's no hiding anything i've used them for the past 10 years.

After reading some of the posts at the end of the day your clubs don't know your handicap, Ignacio Garrido was using either MX200 OR 300,i've got the 300 3 -Pw and can hit the 3 iron no problems, its all in the head guys,i think i should know i've had loads of sets :o.

Depending on your budget and whether you can afford a new set of irons, my advice would be the JPX800 Pro. Gorgeous club and definitely one that crosses over from game improver into the better player side of things. As with a lot of Mizzy stuff it is forged so the feel is great. The cavity is big but without being GI big and it is forgiving on mishits. I tried some demos recently and it has been the only club that has come close to challenging the I15 as my favourite club of the year.

This is all bollox. You can play with what ever, forged, cast, makes no difference. If you need an excuse to change weapons, fair enough, but don't hinge it on this. Titleist vokeys are good enough for many tour pros.

Yep, Mizzy make good stuff, but so do others.
