Like many others, Ive been searching for a mobile golf app. I downloaded a few before settling on GolfPad Free as a simple scorecard. It wasn’t until I noticed the option for the premium version (£3.95) that I noticed all of the extra features. The main menu lets you select a new round, view your playing history on a round-by-round basis or view your overall playing statistics.
When starting a new round, it has a huge database of courses which can be found either by using your GPS location or through a name search, plus has a simple to use course mapping tool in the unlikely chance it doesn’t have to one you want.
It displays your scorecard and range finder clearly on the same screen and has a simple to use interface. There are only 4 buttons to use during round, next/previous hole and plus/minus shot for entering the number of shots you’ve had. The range finder clearly shows the distance to front, middle and back of the green and should be deemed accurate as a friends Garmin S3 watch read identical yardages.
It saves all data as you go and you can review your round anytime as it saves the date, time and course name making it easy to identify a particular round. It then breaks down the stats with an overall overview of your round including front/back 9 performance, number and percentage of birdies/pars/bogeys, and then splitting them further by seeing how you performed on par 3’s, 4’s and 5’s.
I’m really happy I’ve found this app and for under £4 you cant beat it. I’d recommend this to anyone
