The Green Jacket by a Mile

The meaning of the olympics and why is was created has been lost since Money could be made from track n field ..

I am assuming that the Olympic golf won't be for amatuer golfers. The reason the IOC possibly want it is for Tiger, not some unknown 'hacker'. (Sorry, maybe a bit harsh, but you know what I mean).

Agree the IOC want the top pros playing but i feel most pros would value the Green jacket over olympic gold whereas an amateur would, imho, value the olympic gold more.

No question the Green Jacket would come out on top.
For starters, win gold and it doesn't mean you can play again in 4 years time!!
Win Green and you can do a Gary Player.......

No question Green Jacket.

At one time a Gold medal had some Kudos, that is until it started to include events like BMX'ing & Beach Volyball etc. Hardly an event worthy of the olympics & why Golf should now distance itself from the Olymics. At one time I thought golf should be part of the olympics, but not now that the olympics has made a joke out of itself... I mean who'd get any respect if everyone knows it might be for BMX'ing or beach vollyball.

Green Jacket cannot be devalued in this way.

If I were a pro - Green Jacket every time. The nearest I would ever get to immortality.

As an amateur - Green Jacket every time. Genuine immortality.

I'm the odd one out it seems.

In theory you could have a chance of a Green Jacket every year, a Gold only once in four years.
So it's much the same as league title or World Cup.

The only people who want golf IN are the PGA of America because they see it as a merketing cash cow if their tour is watched by TV audiences all over the world.

I think you would struggle to find a player in the top 200 in the rankings who would place an Olympic Gold above a Major.

If golf gets in to olympics it should be an amatuer event you will not get the pro's support as there is no history (I know olympics have been going for ever but not as golf event) The majors will always come first as the main event and the olympic gold should not be seen as another event like the honda classic
