Olympics is traditionally a sport of amature status, however these stipulations have been waved or relaxed over recent years to the extent you could hardly expect any golfer to play for only the chance of the gold, silver & Bronze. Even amatures would expect a certain amount of backing in order to enter an olympic event. Not that any player capable of earning what the Tours have to offer these days would stay amature for long. So how many scratch or better players could countries around the world gather together to provide a viable National golf team.

Perhaps the best we could come up with is Walker cup players to count as the Olympic section for golf.
