having not played for about 8 years (work and baby) i have got myself a new set of clubs had a few goes on the driving range and been a few times to allerton 9 hole in liverpool would you stick to the 9 hole course till you a hittimg the ball good to go onto to the proper course or should i stick with this 9 hole till after winter and build up my game the yards for this 9 hole is about 3500 so you get a good hit on some of the holes

3,500yds is a long way for a 9 hole course.

You won't find many 18 holers that are 7,000yds +

If you enjoy Allerton, stick with it.
If you're bored with it go for a round somewhere else.

It's not like you've never played on a full course before is it?

I didn't play for a similar amount of time. First game back, straight on 18 holes. If 9 is enough to fully enjoy, why not stick with it. Personally, I only play 9 for a quick practise.
Only you can decide.

you can pay for 9 holes or 18 go round twice the problem i have is my playing buddy is not playing at the moment because of a shoulder op out for 6 months and he was my lift as well so have not a great choice at the moment

Personally I'd be looking to get a few lessons sorted to make sure the basics are in place. Then it's up to you whether you can find a game on a proper 18 holer while your partner is out or if you're happy on the regular 9 holer. Either way the lessons will help you enjoy it more knowing you'll hit the ball better

Ive just come back to golf this summer after about 5 years away and played up at allerton nine hole to start with. but having to play off mats 12 months of the year and a lack of lengthy holes meant that i jumped onto the 18 hole after 5 o'clock when it was quieter, to practise. considering i started over the summer and you are starting in the winter, id say the range and nine hole until the weather picks up, playing on the more difficult 18 hole in the winter, could put you off golf for good. especially if your basically starting from scratch. The odd lesson a long the way will help too

might have a go on aintree this week poss wednesday to see how i am hitting them thats a 9 hole as well but a proper one long par 5 holes its only 10 mins by bus from are home i thinks is 10 quid midweek and you get 40 balls on the range and a bacon roll
