No rivets, that is a classic! Did you ask the logic behind it?
So Justin Rose can wear magenta/cerise/pink trousers at yesterdays Honda classis, yet you can't wear tiny rivits? weird.
Denim/Denim style I believe. Club may have had issues in the past - and may still be living there!
Only problem I see with 'standards' is that there has to be some definable point where you say 'this is not acceptable'. And clothing/fashion does have a remarkable ability to change and make what were 'reasonable standards' at one stage out of date - TW's mocks being the classic example. I knew 1 club that covered itself pretty well by reviewing the standard every year and allowing anything sold in the Pro shop to be worn also.
Some people obviously have too much time on their hands and too full of their own self importance. Little men and women who finally have grasped some form of power and desperately hang on to it.
Would have been funny I suppose to listen in to that particular discussion!
Nice attitude - not!
Club was part of a 'Resort' so had obligations. Once the 'anything the shop sells' standard came in, the 'discussion' normally took about 5 seconds.
All this talk of living in the past or people hanging on to power makes me laugh. The club have these rules in place and that is their choice. If the members were not happy they could/would change the rules. There are plenty of other clubs to spend your green fees at if you don't like the rules attached to one particular club.
a few years ago TIGER started to sport collarless shirts and in my nieve state of mind bought one for my society's captains day only to be told by the club pro at CONWYN that it didn't meet the clubs dress code, when i told him i bought it from A.G and that TIGER wore one he laughed and said if WOODS turned up in one he would be told the same,i bought a £3.99 polo shirt from a shop in the town ,no way was he getting a penny from me.
I thought forums were for people to discuss things and offer their opinions?
Irony? Is that not exactly what I have done?
No. Attitude was the correct word! It's not an attitude it is an opinion.
