Golf Trip with the Lads

Im looking at playing somewhere with 3 mates of mine in April time. We want somewhere thats got a couple of decent tracks so we can play a different course on both days and somewhere thats going to have some decent nightlife around it so we can go and have a few beers in the evening.

All 4 of us are around the same level, between 10 and 16 Hcap. Dont mind challenging courses but would need to be somewhere relatively northern as I dont fancy driving us all down south for a weekend!

Dont want it to be massively expensive just somewhere that we can have a good craic and some beers and play a couple of nice courses.

Cheers,
Jates
Aberdovey with a stop in the dormy house.

Do the trip that my mates and I did in September.

Stay in Leeds (great night out).

Play - Moortown, Alwoodley (both 10mins from centre of Leeds) and drive across to Ganton near Scarborough.

You'll struggle to play 3 better courses in 3 days!

Great shout. Also look at Harrogate. Play those suggested or Oakdale, Harrogate, Pannal, Knaresborough. All within 15 minutes of Harrogate.

We go to Keithly.Stay in Travelodge right next to Tobey Inn for food (breakfast) and warm up beer. Cracking Turkish restaurant 10 mins walk into the town itself, which has a Weatherspoons. No sure about the ladies and clubs, were all too old for that stuff!!!! Loadsa courses within easy reach. Bingley St Ives being a top one.

There aren't any ladies in Keighley :p

Bingley is a fantastic course, especially on the top holes with the heather.

If they play at Sandbach that is practically on their doorstep.

The Fylde, North wales or around Southport would all be handy.

2 of us play @ sandbach and 2 play @ wychwood park so Portal and Carden are off the cards 100% I played both of them last month.

We have quite a bit of history in the Abersoch/North wales area so thats a good shout and I really want to get the Belfry played at some point this year.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, Keep them coming!

I prefer to stay away from the pay and play type courses. So, if you have done North Wales already, then I'd second the recommendations for :-

Southport - S&A, Hesketh, Birkdale, Hillside, Formby etc etc
Leeds - Alwoodley, Moortown,
Aberdovey in mid Wales 7 a stay in the dorm house.
Lytham - Royal Lytham, Fairhaven , St Annes Old Links

North East near Newcastle/Middlesbrough, plenty of courses and plenty of night life

i would choose Rockcliffe Hall and Wynyard as your two tracks in this area, great courses. For nightlife go to Yarm just south of Middlesbrough. Top night out with some top totty in not a lot of clothing, even in winter!!

why not fly from Manchester to Inverness. Castle Stuart opens end of march so will be in good condition April and Royal Dornoch next day. Stay in Inverness, a good night out, plenty of bars and restaurants. Plus you can play 2 of the best courses in the UK
