Now if you were looking at ways to keep divots in place instead of the birds or mowers lifting them up, and not be damaging to the mower blades you might have something.....

Too late, there is already a product available

They are called McDivots, we trialled them for a couple of years where I play. Good when the ground is soft useless when the ground is hard.

So there is an opportunity for a hard ground conditions variant.................just saying like;)

Which is a common misconception, if you use a pencil the lead can break, float around in zero gravity and go in someone's eye.

It's more likely to short out delicate electronics. Any way, you are right, the Russians too used the fisher AG7 space pen.
