Hi all

Am new to these boards but this is the first place I have come for advice!

My darling hub is a v keen golfer and I would love to buy him some golf shoes for our anniversary. Can anyone suggest some particular ones that are seen as 'quality' in the golfing world but not too pricey?

Thanks all

Id strongly advise away from footjoys FJ Sports with my past experience, but either way these guys are worth a look www.golfshoesdirect.co.uk .

I used these for my last set, they were 20% cheaper than retail and deliver next day free of charge. The also have great customer service (see my review of them in the review forum)

Hi.

Find out what brand of shoes he has now, has he complained about them at all? If not try looking at that brand. We golfers can be a fussy lot when it comes to brands, (see recent threads!). You'll also notice what size they are, as not all size nines are equal in sizing. As far as colours go. Is he a flashy dresser with coloured shoes or more staid and traditional?

All of this should give you a good idea of which route to take. The website above does have a good range, so is worth trying.

Good luck.

I would say and of the mid to high range (£60 and up) shoes made by Nike, Adidas or Stuburt would be good.

Since it's your anniversary, go nuts and spend a little more and they will last him for at least a couple of years, maybe more (depending how often he plays)

I couldn't agree more with this post. Something special would be in order, something like a Footjoy Premier Classic Dry.

No longer made due to how expensive and time consuming the manufacturing process was. However, I do happen to have a sparkling new lovely black pair in size 9 wide that are still in the shoe bags if you are interested? ;)

Any other shoe just doesn't match up!

Or, if that doesn't float your boat, go to the FootJoy Website and custom design him some using the MyJoy's shoe design thingamy. (www.footjoy.co.uk)

the custom design would be awesome for him, really special and unique. He could just wear them on special occassions or comps whatever. ive seen some really nice and subtle designs that look very classy

Avoid Nike, they stink like cats-wee after a few wears in damp conditions.

I did not realise that this was an actual issue with Nike shoes.
I went ballistic at HID for weeks that her cat had done one in my shoes!!
It went on so long that she gave me the money for a new pair.
As mentioned earlier www.golfshoesdirect.co.uk compared to my local shops (NB & DG) i saved £40 on a pair of FJ Dryjoys and had them on the course within 2 days of paying for them.
