For those of you who subscribe to the mag, I sure you all read the tips. It’s the first thing I turn to. Some I think are bit impractical, I don’t think for example greenkeepers or other members will always be happy to see me running lines of pegs and string across practice green. Some I have found really useful.

A simple tip that worked for me in this months mag, was wedge play

Keeping your sternum over the ball, I never realised until reading it, I was unaware that I was in fact leaning forward with sternum in front of the ball when playing a wedge, my wedge play is weak. It’s now my current practice drill and it seems to be working, fingers crossed.

Who else has had a good tip from the mag that changed things?

I read a tip from Ernie once that was blindingly obvious really but for some reason I hadn't been paying attention to it, and that was to concentrate on hitting the sand an inch or two behind the ball when splashing out of a bunker. That definitely helped.

Just a thought on the tips section , i always have a read at them but i sometimes find guys giving different tips for the same shots , this was explained as different pros have different ways etc, hard for us to get a correct idea so isnt it ?? i supose it is for us to try both ways & see which sorts us best , good section tho , i sometimes wish i had the same practice facilities they have tho .so yea as you say some are a bit impractical. always good to have a peek at them tho..

I see your point but surely no different to going to a couple of different teaching pros and getting to different ways to performthe same shot. During my ongoing short game nightmares I've been shown the standard hands in front, firm wrist and the linear method which has the shaft more perpendicular and is about turning onto the shot more. Same shot - different method
