Golf just gets better

Even when I play badly I come off the course smiling as there's always something good to take away from the round, whether it's from a social element with friends, meeting new people and fellowship, or just another memory of that single good shot I played in an otherwise bad round - there's always something to treasure.

That's nice mate cant beat golf with the kids.
Ive just come back from the club with my son,we started on the 9th and without
a warm up I nearly holed my 9 iron and had a 6" tap in,the smile on
my sons face was a picture.
Just starting to teach him the hinge and hold method for chipping.
Last week he holed a 35 footer for a 5 on a par 4 of over 250 yards hes nearly 8.

To be honest this thread was started to get some positivity around all the negativity.
 
I'm lovin it too Tony. Hitting the ball as well as I've ever done, putting and chipping better, new clubs and having retired I've got so much more time to practice and play.

The only downside is that the weather has been slow to improve this spring. My only other regret is that my 32 year old son rarely plays as I'd love to go round with him like you do with your dad
 
Same here. My handicap took a battering last year going up from 15.4 to 17.4 with vey few positives. Was left feeling a little dejected.

Started the year with a winter society win (Best three cards over 5 rounds, 35, 33 and 29 were enough for me to win so it's not like I was a bandit) which gave me some hope.

Have had loads of away days so far including a few overnighters and have spent more time playing with my dad. Since this is why I started playing it's allowed me to reflect a little more on my game.

Now in the last week I've been cut 0.6 helping to cement a 17 handicap for a while longer. Now 17.1 after rising to 17.7. Loads of positives. Loads of golf planned for the year and looking forward to it all. I'll play to enjoy it. Handicap will take care of itself.

Glad to here it mate hopefully single figures beckons.

Im looking forward to the day me my dad and my son play together.
Maybe your son will in the future.

This year I joined the club I love playing at and now I get to play
with my dad more often.
I now take my 7 year old son down the golf course 3 times a week
and play 7 holes.
He has his own club membership that costs £10 as an add on to mine.
He loves it and he enjoys it immensely with no pressure.
He also does a group session on a Wednesday for £3.
Got some great golfing days coming up this year and more lined up.
My practice is going well and my games getting to where it should be.
So im not losing interest just loving it more and more.

Me too mate.....just wish that I could play more than I do......flipping work!!! Currently I do 18 on a Tues for the team , 9 on a Thursday evening and 18 at the weekend. Sometime nip down for a bit of practice or 9 holes if the missus is shopping or watching Coronationcrap !!

Another in the Happy club.

Anyone who has seen me on game golf will see that my rounds tend to be close to 100 being a steady 28 hacker. Always had good holes in me, but far to inconsistent. Seems things have clicked. Last few rounds have all been much better with my game golf handicap now 21. But about to fall after today's round I'd imagine. Even with a TEN on a par 5.

Guess I'm just a summer golfer.....
 
Great thread. I'm a high scorer ATM, but being new to the game I absolutely love every round I play. Wish I could play more and won't be long before I'm a member of a club and playing every week.

Every time I get out there I learn something new, lessons have helped me tremendously, and mid 90s are without a doubt within sight for me!

Brilliant sport and couldn't be happier I took it up.

Great post. My daughter (just turned 4) loves it. If I suggest going to play golf she drops what she's doing to get her shoes on. I took her up to the putting green when she was 2 and the pro put a grip on her old cut-down putter, which my grandad gave me back in the day. He also gave her a cut-down 7 iron, which was a nice touch.

I'm loving the game also. Don't get to play anything as much as I'd like but it means that I love playing when I do, regardless of the score. I used to play at a course beside a graveyard and if I was in a mood because I was playing badly, my dad would say "There's 500 guys in there would swap places with you in a heartbeat."

My course goes round the crematorium and always a timely reminder of how bad things could be!

Hoping to get my daughters into it over the next couple of years, younger one seems keen.

I'm loving it just now, playing loads (maybe on the verge of too much) and generally playing quite well. Just really enjoying being on the course at the moment and I'm not competitive enough at it to let the bad rounds and/or shots get me down. Laugh at myself and move on.
 
Playing like a grade A chopper and really fed up with my own game but it's still fun to be out playing with the guys I do. Savage banter on and off the course and great company on it with loads of encouragement when things aren't going to plan A. B or Z

I'd love it if I could play with my son and grandson but he's was 2 this week .... but I can hope. I love it that you clearly think the world of your dad and, having met him, I can see why !

Wise words from your dad mate.
Already lost 2 mates this year that I played golf with.
As you say appreciate it when you play you never know when you may not be able to.
 
Loving it as always even though I've taken 2 steps back! Played my best golf over the winter and was really hopefully of getting a big reduction. Que start of season and playing like a donkey! I blame the lesson I had the other week!
 
Another who cant get enough of the game whether its on the course, range or practicing, even get a kick out of cleaning the clubs & shoes when I get home and preparing the bag for the next round

12 days until our 2 day club champs... it doesn't get much better :whoo:
