i like the idea of the removable arms/shoulders making it 3 jackets in one as i often wear a 'gillet' and carry a seperate rain jacket but always find them very restrictive. not tried a proper golf jacket before and like the looks of this one.
seen it for £150 so may give it a whirl.
Have a Stubert 'over the head' style one myself, love it, lets me swing pretty freely thanks to nifty placed elastic bits and look so good I'm prone to wearing it away from the sticks.
I've got an Izzo jacket that has zip off sleeves. Don't think I've ever taken them off. Surely if its raining and you need to put a jacket on, with no sleeves your arms are going to get soaked - or am I missing the point here?
i guess its the convenience/adaptability. as i said i have 3 stock jackets for golf at the moment, none of which really cut the mustard as they impede my swing somewhat.
will try it on tonight at AG and see what i think
I do struggle with long sleve jackets and my swing, I sometimes find them restricting and really prefer a bigger windshirt with a polo or wool jumper under and a base layer to keep warm.
I did buy the Callaway x series one for £30 and its like a tracksuit top, ok if you are slim, not so ok if you are a lard arse like myself, though its very warm just a tad tight and looks daft with trousers.
I think I might pickup the Ashworth LS windshirt from DG when pay day comes around.
They are a bit pricey but the Galvin Green Pac Lite stuff is outstanding. The full on rain jackets are a tighter fit so a decent swing is still possible. I've also got a 1/4 sleeve which is the business if it's for showers or used as a wind cheater type thing.
I have a waterproof that I dont know the make of and I throw it over when its really bad, in normal rain my fleece does the job along with my brolly if its a summer shower I just get wet and dry out when the rain stops.
£150 to HOPEFULLY keep me dry, ha ha, I live in a country that has lots of rain and Ive never spent anything more than 40 quid in everyday clothing to keep me dry all year round and it keeps doing it for years, 150 for something that MIGHT keep me dry 2 or three times a year for about 4 hrs
Galvin Greens are good jackets i have one and i dont mind playing in jackets, some people i dont like playing in one.
As for the price they just the same if not cheaper than a top of the range walking jacket North Face etc i wear mine more off the course than on as its very smart.
I also have a Proquip silktouch which gets more golf than the other you could get the cut off version and the full length for alot cheap than the one coat
I'm a proquip man. I have a ultralite jacket that you can take the sleeve off which is ideal for the summer and a silktouch suit that I can't recommend highly enough. I forget which online store I got it from but the suit was £110 instead of £180 and I'm sure if you search there will be some good offers.
I really like proquip as the quality is good, they do the job and they don't break the bank unlike Galvin Green.
I payed £50 for my Silktouch Ryder Cup 2006 edition from pargolfonline its great good quailty feel and the sleeves come off at the elbows which might come in handy in spring
