Golf insurance

I was always with E&L for years and I let it lapse at the end of last year, had I kept it going I would be having my subs paid now and getting some extra dosh due to my current accident saving me hundreds of pounds!

I always knew the club your a member of and many clubs you visit have built-in insurance for what happens on the course and as you state, with most home contents insurances you may be covered also but I'd look at declaring your clubs just in case as they may exceed the high value item criteria!

I will now be renewing my insurance with E&L as for the sakes of less than £4 per/month its just plain daft not to!

They'll only pay out if it's a golf related accident from what I can see.

Up to the amount specified in the Schedule for the payment of annual clubmembership fees paid or contracted to be paid by You in the event You areunable to play or practise golf for more than 49 days as a result of an illnessor accidental bodily injury sustained solely and directly from accidental, visible, violent and external means whilst playing or practising golf at a GolfingVenue.

If you look at the Club Membership details that is covered because its a much lesser amount and outlay to personal accident/injury (golf related) and covers personal accident & illness after 49 days, as such, after 7wks I'd be getting my subs paid until I returned 3mths later.

That's where I quoted from their policy. Section 6. Reads to me that they wouldn't pay as it wasn't a golf accident.

I'd be interested at pushing this at our Club? What does it cost pa and do you know whom it's with?

Last year it was with Carrick Neill but it's a different company this year I think, level of cover is still the same. Not sure what the total cost was but it didnt put our subs up much more than normal so I'm guessing the cost wasn't huge.

I will get some more details and get back to you.

Same here except our club insurance also covers a hole in one bar bill up to £75.

I was quite surprised, and very pleased, when ours settled the £71 cost of my round after one at an away match this year!

Such settlements do much to reassure you that they won't be quibbling in more serious circumstances.

The company were Golfguard, all through the club.

I use Carrick Neill and have done for years. Decent policy and gives me piece of mind regarding injury liabilty if I hit anyone (and the way I'm playing...)

I have just changed from Golfcare to Carrick Neill. Look at the wording of your policies carefully and make sure you are covered for what you think you are:thup:

Good point. They actually put in cover for theft from my locker. We had a break in when we were at the old course and some members weren't covered under their insurance so for an extra couple of quid I got it added.

we have golf insurance as we play in Florida once a year and worried we would be sued to death if we even roll a ball near our friends from over the pond!

Our golf club do cover us for when we play here though!

I've been interested in the golf care ads, especially the 3 free rounds. Anyone taken up this offer, and is it as easy as it sounds? Ie book and play whenever you want?

yep and the free rounds have been fine too. I have never had to make a claim on my insurance so how good the company are at paying out I am unsure about :)

I'm always a little sceptical about those free rounds. Last time I checked, and I am very happy to be wrong on this, you could only use one per group and the other members of the group had to pay full green fee rates. As you can usually get good discounts from online tee booking firms the deals were rarely better using the free round offer than not. I know this sounds a little churlish but my point is not to make your decision on which firm to use based on free rounds which are not quite what they seem.
