Only up to 3yrs old according to their website. That would only cover 1 item in my bag  😆

Isn't that just classic insurance conduct.... and not just in golf..... if you're lucky enough to meet all of their criteria specifically, then you're covered. But forget to dot and i or cross a T and you're knackered.

To an extent but at least they are clear about it. I suspect many will think they are covered whatever the age but the reality is, for them anyway, they need to be under 3yrs and you need your receipts as well.

Once I read this, a few years ago now, I stopped my policy. I'm covered for liability via EG, the rest doesn't impact me so why bother?

The only reason I have is due to golf holidays, normally I wouldn't bother, but the idea of clubs going missing on plane or hotel room etc...

We have golf as an extra on our annual travel insurance, it covers hire of clubs if lost, refund of green fees etc. - works out as a cheap add on.
I'll have a look at that, thank you

The insurance that comes with England Golf membership is only personal liability insurance. So you you're OK if you hurt or injure someone/something else. But it doesn't cover you or your clubs & other stuff
How does the golf specialist insurance compare with your home insurance, for example items covered away from home?

Nationwide travel insurance with the flexplus account has, " We will pay up to £1,500 to repair or replace golf equipment that you own or have hired, which is lost, stolen or accidentally damaged duringyour trip". So, probably second hand value but at least it's something.

Later ...

Reading further:

How we settle golf equipment claims
If your claim is successful, we will decide how best to cover your loss. This includes:
Replacing the item as new.
Paying the cost of repair.
A cash payment.

Reading further: Limit of 5 years old

It's hired golf equipment so Nationwide should pay up to £1500. But there may be smallprint.
It's actually for my own single-seater buggy, it's over 5 years old.
BTW I probably should be using L plates  .
I've had a couple of mishaps, fortunately, no damage was done to me, anyone else or the buggy [ except my pride ]
Something similar to comprehensive car insurance, repairs and recovery.

I'm thinking that I should get golf insurance - anybody had any good/bad experiences with particular companies and any recommendation?
Do not under any circumstances use The Insurance Emporium. I took out a premium 'Glenagles' policy two years ago. I had to claim for a residential burglary a few weeks back and the policy isn't worth anything. In the small print they require you to list EVERY ITEM of equipment over GBP50. Not only this but they require receipts as proof of ownership. Unfortunately in my bag were a number of new clubs updated this year (Ping i230s, TSi3 driver, 3w, HY etc) but because I had not updated the listed items none of these were considered despite my having receipts and photos of me with them in my bag! The only club they were prepared to look at was my 10 year old Odyssey White putter, but because I couldn't provide a receipt they rejected the claim outright. How many people keep receipts for items over 1 or 2 years old? How many companies still issue receipts? I thought Insurance companies could not get away with this sort of thing any more but clearly that can. They have made the claims process unduly painful to requesting copies of MOTs from the vehicle that was stolen during the burglary and evidence of forced entry (A police report was not sufficient). It looks like golf care and golf plan are far better options and they do not have this crazy unrealistic requirement to list every item in your bag. Whatever you do DON'T USE THE INSURANCE EMPORIUM for any of your prized possessions.

That’s standard for a lot of golf insurance companies now, not just Insurance Emporium ….I checked out loads (and read small print) and I think the only one that didn’t need receipts was Golf Plan - I phoned them to double check. Also lots of companies now say they will only do New for Old if the equipment is under two years old! I asked Golf Plan and they said they do New for Old for all clubs. Also one of the few that covers clubs in your car more than driving to and from the club - Golf Plan won’t cover if you stop at a shop on your way home and they get stolen!
