does your golf course provide insurance for your equipment if you rent as locker from them??

for example, i have both golfcare insurance and my equipment is on my home insurance policy, but both say they wont cover me if my ciubs get stolen from my locker. this is because they say as i pay a fee for my equipment to be left in a secure locker on the clubs premises then they are responsible for them if they get stolen from there.

the golf club says that my equipment is left at my own risk!! personally i think the insurance companies are right

thoughts?? and how does your course work it???

Not sure I agree. The club rents you a locker to store your clubs, and have said that they're left at your own risk. Sounds like the club have set their T&C's. What right has the insurance company got to dictate to the club... I'd go and ask your insurer's to reconsider.

Several years ago the club I was a member of was broken into overnight, and ultimately the locker room was ransacked with 40+ sets of clubs stolen from lockers including mine.

The club basically gave everyone affected a crime number and told them to sort it out themselves and that they were not in anyway liable (as per membership terms and signs about the place).

Thankfully for me I had already queried this with my house insurer and they had explicitly agreed that anything in my locker was covered as per my house insurance policy, they paid out promptly for me to replace pretty much all of my golf kit (bag, clubs, shoes, waterproofs, balls etc). Several others sadly found out that although they thought they were covered several times over, the club wouldnt help out through their insurance, their home insurance policy didnt cover it and the golf insurance they had didnt cover them either.

Ultimately if you plan on leaving gear in a locker then I would want explicit proof from one party that they would cover any losses (and for me a decent home insurance policy is the best way for this to be done and if you have to pay a little extra for that peace of mind then I would do so!)

can see both their arguments tbh, and insurers will do anything to get out of paying. ther are over 200 lockers at my clun so the clubs insurance would be pretty hefty id imagine. maybe need to hound my house insurance !!
