It has just been announced that from Friday 12th March, Golf courses with a designated COVID Officer can permit organised golf for members who live within the local authority area. Play can take place in four-balls with no restrictions on the number of households.

We already have people breaking the 5 mile local authority rule.

It's just going to cause more arguments and angst between members.

I don't think anyone is breaking the rules and playing at my club.

Currently you are not allowed to cross a county border at all.

Are you sure? Guidance says:

"You can travel for local informal exercise such as meeting another person, walking, cycling, golf or running that starts and finishes at the same place (which can be up to 5 miles from the boundary of your local authority area), but you should travel no further than you need to reach a safe, non-crowded place to exercise in a physically distanced way and abide by the rules on meeting other households (in groups of up to 2 people, plus any children under 12, from no more than 2 households)."

Complicated update.
4-balls with no restrictions on number of households allowed if all players live within a local authority.
Those who are travelling the maximum 5 miles across a local authority boundary to their golf club can play in 4-balls but restricted to 2 households.
Some unnecessary complications thrown in there.
