I have been given the job of planning our usual golf weekend away, and the pin landed on Preston. First time here for all four of us. Can anyone recommend any courses (handicapps range from 18 to 28) We are also looking to stay near the city centre. Any info appreciated.

Certainly can as I am a student based just outside Preston. If you want to go and play at somewhere within Preston area the these 2 are probably the best:

However if you want to travel further then the choice is endless. Blackpool and Lytham both have loads of fab courses as well as othere areas. Let me know how far the group is wanting to travel and I will help you out more if I can.

Das, I am a member at Penwortham and can advise on the course. It is not long but a premium is placed on accuracy as the fairways are generally tree lined and quite tight. A lot of people who have played it for the first time have had problems with reading the greens. They are all USGA greens but several of my mates that I have taken round have really struggled with the putter.

If you want to stay in Preston for going out etc but willing to drive a bit I'd strongly suggest getting yourself along to St Annes/Blackpool for some golf.

A lot of good courses pretty close together, mainly links aswell if that's your sort of thing?

Only played Preston GC once, is a pretty nice course, very much parkland though.

Give me a shout if you've got any questions as I live halfway between Preston and Blackpool

I played at preston golf club (cousins are members) a few times and it is a nice course. I would advise you use a trolley as it has got a few steep hills.
