Golf holiday recommendation and handicap?

I'm planning on a golf holiday with the wife comem july.

I have an official CONGU handicap of 18 and have (with some persuasion, perseverance and NLP) gotten my wife into golf. She can hit the ball reasonably well and drives 150 yards. She does'nt have a handicap cert.

We're looking for somewhere with beach, beautiful course and relaxed (i.e. no) handicap requirements.

Any recommendations out there would be appreciated?

surely with a bit of research u can do this yourself. no offence but doesnt this seem a little lazy? ask your club if neccessary

Bude is very nice, plenty of Hotels & B&B's available near the course. Though not always the easiest to negotiate.

Now although not by the sea I'd really recommend somewhere like Wensum valley. Now although a fair bit of walking, there are plenty of Buggies, no need for handicap, the hotel has a reasonable retaurant, there is a health & fitness centre & a swimming pool.

If you live down south then in Kent there is always Tudor Park, again its inland, but not too far from the coast.

Lincolnshire has some reasonably easy coastal courses.

One I'd recommend for a beginner, though not the most interesting of layouts is Sandilands near Mablethorpe

Not exactly my most favorite part of the country, but as I say for a beginner, its fairly good as a starter.

The Grange & Links hotel is just around the corner, not the cheapest of places & could do with a good refurb, but I've seen worse.

I am doing my own research- most of the courses abroad on the web have a handicap recommendation. However on discussion with golf travel agents (golftravel.com) they say that as long as you're dressed appropriately and not playing slow thay don't ask.

Asking for help to clarify things so I don't turn up an find although I can play, the missus can't.

I've yet to play anywhere where I've been asked, but its as well to cover yourself.

Talk nicely to your pro.... you never know... if you see what I'm getting at.

Been to mainland Spain, Majorca and Portugal only once been asked my handicap and never been asked for a certificate. Provided you keep up with the group in front its not a problem.

Played on lots of courses in this country & abroad, and almost never asked for certificate.

If you want abroad, France has some lovely courses, very reasonable to play and very quiet in comparison to other places like Spain & Portugal, which will also cost you a lot of dosh.
Have played some superb tracks in Brittany, Loire Valley, and all very reasonable, and France is great place to holiday.

If you go further afield, I guess it depends on how much you want to spend.
There are some seriously lovely Resort hotels with spectacular golf attached, and which wouldnt ask for H/C certificates etc
Abama in Tenerife....
Anahita, Le Touessrok, Belle Mare Plage & le Telfair in Mauritius.....
all 5* & all beautiful, but naturally some serious dosh.
I could go on and on......
However, even if you go somewhere in the Uk, I think it highly unlikely you'll be asked at all.

The forecast for the summer is for a great and very hot summer so you could save on the grief of paying to take clubs or hiring sets aborad and stay in the UK. I guess it depends on what else you want from a holiday and where you want to go

Try the Home of Golf Scotland ,great seaside courses,like Crail,Leven Links ,Scotscraig, Cullen , Tain, Fortrose & Rosemarkie which wont cost the earth and ask for certs

If you holiday in the UK, I can certainly recommend Carlyon Bay Hotel in Cornwall, with golf course attached. Went there last October, hotel 4 star and all facilities, golf course very scenic with first 5 or 6 holes along cliff tops.
Enjoyed it so much we're going for 4 days in July, can't wait!

Abroad, if you can afford,it La Manga in Spain is great, with 3 courses. If you stay at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, you can relax around the pool when not playing golf. In the evenings there's plenty of choice of restaurants in and around the complex.
If you like Indian food there's a superb restaurant built at high level, overlooking the whole complex and surrounding area, with an outside terrace.
Can't afford to go there this year.

What area are we talking?
Does distance matter?
Does country matter?

Answer them and I might be able to suggest somewhere, but not until I know that you seriously want to know instead of throwing a Q into the pot.

If everyone did their own research and didn't ask for recomendations this forum would be half the size.

I thought the idea of this forum was to chat and share experiences.....and I suppose you have never asked anyone for advice or recomendations.

What about a trip to Ireland, take the boat with your car.

Some lovely course over these parts and if you get the weather there is no better spot for golf i think.
