We are playing Ganton 2 rounds and then Fulford 1 round.

The day before we are coming from South Cumbria travelling along A65 through Harrogate and round York. We are staying near Malton and have looked there for playing a round.

Does anyone have any sugestions on our way. York area would be ideal and 2 for 1 would be better!

Many thanks

Well, you already have the marquee courses covered off! outside of those two I'd go for the York Golf Club at Strensall - some say its' a tad more enjoyable than Fulford.

For a newer, longer test Sandburn Hall is worth a look and Forest Park GC has 27 holes to keep you interested.

TBH you prob won't remember anywhere else you played after a visit to ganton

2 rounds at Ganton....im not jealous, no really im not, im really not jealous

Rudding Park in Harrogate is nice, also has a nice little Par 3 course if you have an extra 45 minutes to spare....

You'll be spending a few bob at Ganton, so may want to play somewhere a bit cheaper, but still have a great round. Not far from Malton is Ampleforth GC, stunning views and a tough test (par 69) although not long, very technical. Also Kirby Moorside is a very decent track. On your way into Ganton depending on your booking, you can get yourself sorted on a long par 3 course at Snainton, which has teaching academy, under cover driving range and a brilliant golf shop and cafe.

Flaxby, near harrogate is coming along nicely but i would go for strensall (york golf club) as well, walked round the outside of it yesterday and it looks in great nick. Another one not jealous at all about ganton. That said I've got silloth on Monday if my back gets better in time.

Cheers for all your advice.

I had York in mind and whilst we have to play at 1.30 p.m there is an offer of £80 for a 4 ball. Just need to confirm with the other guys.

Malton and Norton (My home course) is well worth a visit, we have 27 holes and is in good nick at the moment. You will love Ganton, we went in Februaury and it was in terrific condition then.

Spalsh, Ulverston

Danny Gee. We are staying at Weaverhope. I phoned your course and there was no offers. York was £12 more for a round and cost £12 less on the dya - no brainer

Thanks once again

I played Rudding park Wednesday with the yorkshire golf forum lads and we had a super day, it's tricky if you have never played it before, lots of drives that really require a bit of local knowledge but enjoyable. They looked after us like pro's. Worth a visit.
