Hi guys,

After six years without golf (I lived in another country), I'm moving to Hemel Hempstead in the next few months. I'm looking for a reasonably priced golf club to join.
I currently don't have a handicap but when I was playing back at university, I was playing off 8 so I'm fairly confident I could get to a decent level quickly.

I'm not looking for an amazing course at the moment as I anticipate a few sliced balls to be hit out there in the immediate future!

I've only ever been a member of golf clubs in Cornwall or Wales where fees are substantially less so price is a factor until I have found my feet on the golf course again.

Thanks for your help!

I'd recommend Little Hey. It's a pay & play but you can buy a season ticket and join Little Hey GC. It can be a bit slow at the weekend, but the course is ok for the money.

I asked your age as you have Ashridge and Berkhampstead GC nearby and they are both fantastic clubs, and both offer an intermediate category with reduced subs and no joining fee. I think both still have waiting lists but you could join Little Hey, put your name on the list and probably get in next year. They are both keen to attract younger members.

I was going to mention Berkamstead and Ash Ridge but didn't because you said funds were an issue. There's also Chiltern Forest not too far away.
