Golf Club Food

Not heard of that combination before. Seems nice enough though so would give it a try!

Just about everywhere I've played has been the traditional bacon bap before teeing off and a 3 course afterward. Houghwood was the best I've had. Steak after the round was amazing - cooked to perfection!

I played at Western Gailes yesterday and for lunch had the plate shown in the photo. Mince, toast and poached eggs. It was on the menu ! and also very nice

Which got me thinking, does your club have unusual delicacies for you to enjoy.

Need to go get some lunch now, made myself hungry ;)

I guess up that way it counts as hoots cuisine.

Sorry ....

I'd like to see some healthy options at golf clubs. I do like chips and burgers but I also like having a waist that isn't bigger than my leg length.

Food is Class in our place , tad dear but worth it ..
nothing out of the ordinary but

Do a lovely gourmet (?) chicken fillet burger, one side is bun & chicken fillet burger with fried egg on top , other side is bun , beautiful fresh salad with couple of rashers (bacon)& 3 small onion rings on top , served with big bowl of skinny chips & pot of gravy or pepper sauce

D businesss

Not unusual but Hayling do an absolutely superb sausage bap which any of my guests will testify to

That mince looks tasty!

The full English is more than passable too! :)

Our club does the occasional themed nights. One of our chefs is Peruvian so they recently let him loose on the club with his favourite traditional dishes, unfortunately we were away. :(

Our chef is an Austrian guy and is quite good. We played in our winter open am am, (won by some belting bandits). Anyway, Renee made a meat loaf and it was to die for.

Or club had two awesome snacks which some idiot took from the menu!

Honey covered rice crispy chicken goujons with sweet chilly dip

Or

Courgette fritters

Miss them! :(

It's rubbish at our club, corporate mush. One good thing, it might help keep society day numbers down.

Standard golf club fare but a tad expensive in my eyes. They never open until 10.00 and you can't help thinking that with some effort publicity and preparation they could open early at weekends and members would be up for a butty of similar especially in the winter

Our food is one of the things visitors often praise - it really is excellent. I will suggest the mince with egg and toast. Just a pot of mince with bread toasted and egg fried as required. Minutes to prep. Reminds me of back in the day my mum would make us mince and tatties and we'd soak up and any remaining gravy with slices of plain breid (we weren't a pan loaf sort of family)

Cooden's food is spot on. Some of the best ham, egg and chips you could have.
I am particularly fond of their sausage and onion toasted sarny.
Superb local sausages, with loads (and I mean loads) of fried onions, bread toasted to perfection and a little sprig of green stuff to make it look nice and healthy. All topped off by a big blob of Daddies.
One of these prior to teeing off has the same effect as going up the driving range and hitting 100 x 7 irons.
Cushty.

I love my food, but that Mince, Egg & toast looks like something my cat would eat

Back in the day there was a period when potatoes went very expensive and we couldn't afford them (when mum started serving us rice or spaghetti instead - dad had to have the latter cut up into 1" lengths as he hated not being able to eat it 'properly'). With mince we'd simply have bread and butter. Actually mince with egg is a simple and cheap version of Scotch Collops.

I've never popped a collop in my mouth. Maybe I've missed out :o
the best food I've had this year, which was also the best value, was at Hindehead. I think it's the same caterer that does Hayling, Ferndown & Hindehead (certainly used to be)

Ours is OK. It's in house, and is over specced. We'd like a burger & chips for example, but the chef seems to want to get creative & offer venison burger with hand crafted potato wedges.

We have monster scotch eggs in our half way hut which I am told are very good. The soup us good and there is always a bowl if dried chilli flakes to sprinkle on if you need warming up!

we used to have an awesome chef at our club, really top quality and we used to go to all the meal functions too.

However we were unable to keep him as he opened up his own place (which is doing very well).

The new people since are bobbins and even the half way hut has gone done the pan as they have stopped selling my fav sausage rolls!

anyway make the most of the good food some of you guys are having as I am a tad jealous

When playing at Grantown on Spey, the caterer apologised that the Tuna mayo had all been used up,so, would fresh salmon do instead ? This salmon was barely out of the Spey. Best sandwich, anywhere, ever !
