Golf Balls... could someone put the record straight !!

I normaly play 333's through the winter because the greens are softer and a premium ball is not needed.

However now our course is like B&Q car park I have put the prov1 in the bag and my scores compared to last year (playing a srixon z-urs) are alot lower.

If you hit greens and can make use of the spin AND can afford them, then they are worth it.

I wouldnt change ball now as apart fro spinning well and feeling great, they are consistant.

So to answer the question, forget your handicap, its your ball striking and direction that is important

ive got to disagree, i played two identical shots at tilgate forest a few weeks back, one failed to stop on the green, the second pitched and landed in exactly the same position and checked up alot quicker to hold the green.

Having played at Tilgate Forest yesterday all I can say is the greens must have been a hole lot softer when you played than they were yesterday because I couldn't get my Bridgestone's to stop for toffee and I know I get a lot of spin with them and I know I was stopping them at Ascot on Friday. It was like the green's were dead, no spin on full wedges, no check on chips, no nothing, nada.

If i remember right the hole was the 12th, before teh 2 do eg par 4's, my drive was bang straight and perfect, id pushed my approach in and was on the ledge on the right hand side. Playing in from this angle meant i had to play directly over the right hand bunker leaving me around 15ft of green ish. I hit a NXT in pitched it just over the bunker lip and it bounced and ran through, i dropped the next ball in my pocket (penta) hit the identical shot and it checked within about 4 ft leaving me an uphill put to the pin.

Like you we was struggling all day with fast greens, 99% of our approach shots would be 10ft short of the green and let it roll on, after that shot on the 12th the nxt went in my pocked as a "3 off the tee ball" and the penta played the rest of the round.

Just out of interest, are you a big hitter?

The Bridgestone website says the B330 is best suited to driver swing speeds of over 112mph. That's fast. Probably equivalent to a driver carry of about 260-270.

If you get on well with it then to hell with what Bridgestone say, but if you don't swing that fast you'll be losing distance with a ball designed to be hit that hard.

last time i got fitted for a driver i was carrying around 245/255 with a swing speed of 105mph if i remember right tho i must say i have tried to slow it down some what from last season (trying to get more of a rhythm going this season) does not happen all the time tho, once i get out on the course i sometimes get a little as i go around.. And if i got a good score going and hitting it well, i feel like i am swinging like tiger come the 18th lol..
