Always been a religious user of the pro V
Always got a few dozen at Christmas time from family, and picked previous years models up for about £30 a dozen from my local Watt Bro's
However, last year I changed to the TP5 and felt it was very similar but performed slightly better than the Pro V
I've always flirted with the chrome soft which I found we pretty decent but only really used the tru vis version in winter months so difficult to compare with my typical TP5 or Pro V

However, I played yesterday with a Bridgestone Tour B XS and was very impressed (won a dozen in a pro shop raffle)
Yes it was very windy but the ball seemed to fly to problem at all and performed well around the greens / putting so would consider bringing into play

Does anyone know it the Tour B XS is a like for like when comparing with a Pro V or is it more down the Pro V X line?

The other question I'm interested in is whether anyone else has tried a different ball or too stubborn to do so like myself until the last 2/3 seasons

I know I prefer Bridgestone but will be playing ProV1s this season simply because I won two boxes.

I have only tried the new version of Bridgestone B for a few holes and loved it for spin and feel having been given one to try by a mate. He is a much stronger hitter of the ball than me . I normally go for the RXS version.

I will ask him when I see him which version he uses .

Bridgestone have an online fitting tool so you might decide from that which you prefer.

Not played the Bridgestone ball you mention.

I was also a Pro V1 (the x version) player until 2 years back, mainly as I was getting them free which is always good!. I tried the TM TP5x and felt this was an improvement (dispersion, distance and feel) for me. So moved to these as an alternative. Won't suit everyone but felt right for me.

I like the alignment of the Chromesoft Tripletrack and tried a pack of those. The ball felt fine and would consider a switch to it but see the TM version TP5x Pix is now out so will grab some to try when it gets warmer.

Currently hitting whatever is in the bag as not making much difference this time of year (unless its a brick in disguise as a golf ball)

Golf balls are pretty personal choices tbh. If you like and prefer that Bridgestone model I wouldn't be worrying about whether the characteristics are more like a Pro V1 or a V1x.

If you are happy and the ball performs the way you want it to then it's a win win.

Tour XS is supposed to be the equivalent of the ProV1 and the Tour X is the ProV1x equivalent. You can get both of last years balls for £25 a dozen right now since the 2020 ball has just been released.

Tour XS has great reviews.

As Jacko said above. If you like the ball what does it matter about comparison numbers.

I love the Bridgestone ball for how it feels and performs, can't stand the feel and performance of a Pro V1 yet my pro always says the numbers are better for me with Pro V1 so i should use it. But i never will as i prefer the feel of the Bridgestone.

Absolutely-try a few different brands till you see tangible gains...............the letters on the ball are just letters! (assuming you can render yourself immune to the considerable marketing budgets of the manufacturers);)

If you see no difference, cheapest is bestest!

I’ve used a mush mash of found balls as I started then began to use the AD333, primarily because they came in yellow and were easier to find in the rough and the woods, as well as being on special offer.

Since then I’ve started using the Bridgestone BRX and finding it a great ball. Not sure why really, I’m not good enough to really have a proper view on what makes a good ball but I played my first round using them and didn’t lose a single one until the 13th where a few wayward drives OOB lost me some. Maybe it’s because I’m getting better at the game or maybe because they are a bit pricier I’m a bit more careful!

I reckon ball choice is just about having confidence, as with most aspects of this game.

Great day today playing with a Snell MTB-x for the first time.

Hit some of my best drives ever, felt nice off the irons, but most of all, I really liked them on and around greens.

Birdied the 1st on the Hotchkin, can’t ask for a better start with a new ball than that.

Nett 72 in a 3 club wind, the ball just cut through the strong winds, so they’re my new ball of choice, as good if not better than the ProV 1x ??️⛳

Got myself (on the cheap - £19 for 24) some Callaway Supersofts, I used to play these couple of years ago, when I first got into golf .. but then realised I was losing to many, so pretty much just played anything. For the last year, figured due to my level of golf, and again the number I was using, bought some cheap Slazenger V300 balls from sportsdirect (£18 for 48) .... anyway, recently as my game seems to have been getting better, the V300 def feel hard off the club.

Anyway, tried out these Supersofts in my garage SIM over the weekend, and wow .. what a difference in terms of feel .. to a point, that not even sure I can feel the ball coming off the face, which am not sure if that is a good or bad thing

My swing speed with driver (on skytrak) is showing around 90mph (calculated), with ball speed anywhere between 120-129Mph .... are these now the rights balls for me? I still don't want to be paying premium, as reckon still lose to many

Waiting for a dozen of the new Bridgestone 2020 Tour B RXS balls to arrive. Have played Bridgestone balls before and the quality is second to none, looking forward to giving them a try with a view to playing them going forward.

I’ve been playing 12 years and I’m off 16 h/c and I honestly can’t tell the difference between different balls. I know I’m probably the only person on this forum that can’t but the only time I can tell is with a putter and that is more sound than feel. I tend to find quite a few V300 balls with them being so cheap and am quite happy to play them, my scores aren’t noticeably different playing them or a pro v1.

Yeah, the V300's seem to be fine, and do pretty much was the Supersoft are doing (at least on the Sim), however, just wanted something maybe not as hard off the face .. whereas these supersofts seem squishy

I choose my golf ball on how they are with my putter.

I'm allways switching balls on a year to year basis. Unfortunately what usually happens is that you find one you really like and then the manufacturer releases a new version of the "same" ball and totally destroys it. Callaway did it with the Chrome Soft, first version was OK, second version was superb but the latest incarnation with the "graphene" layer is just a dogs dinner of a ball by comparison.

TM did it years ago with the Penta....the original 5 piece Penta was just a superb golf ball, successive versions have been awful...as were the first versions of the TP5. Current version of TP5 is quite good though.

Have used AD333 tour for a while but got a box of TM TP5 with the GM subscription last year and really like them. Found recently with the Srixon the cover was not as durable. Either something changed or I just had a run of lies or bounces that were damaging them easily.
I have never got on with the Prov V range they have never felt right in the hand and as a result confidence was not there on the greens. Completely accept this is a defect with me rather than the top selling tour no 1 ?

I deposited some of Snells in trees, ponds etc on various courses last year and while I had them I thought they were a great ball.

I am working my way through 2 boxes of Truvis balls but will be switching back to the snell.
