Golf bag rain hood things

It's amazing that Vessel sell a product to resolve a deficiency in their own bag design. They pride themselves on the quality of their bags, but then intentionally retain a design flaw

I wonder if they employ the guy who designed the Death Star.

They fit well. They match the bag.

More a retailer offering something customers have asked for - a rainhood with less bulk.

Their main market is the US. It doesn't rain much...

I guess you're not too well versed in retail, or good customer service, but to be fair, you never miss at sniping 😁

No use to you if just looking for a universal hood but the ones that come with Jones rover stand bags are cracking.
Certainly put to the test over that winter.

My hands stay a lot drier since I ditched rain hoods altogether.
Unless you carry 9 towels so you can dry your club before putting it back in the bag then dry your hands where they got wet handling the soaked rain hood, I don’t see the benefit anymore.

When I carried my bag, I left the rainhood on all the time, but unzipped it during rounds, then zipped it back up to travel home. Now I have a cart bag, I leave the cover on for what seems like a bit of privacy and security if I have to lug it on the bus or take it to the office. Then I take it off and put it in a big side pocket when I play, and leave it off, as I often walk home after a round, so just leave it off as I'm tired enough not to faff around with it. lol.

The ping hoofer has a genius way of hiding/storing the hood in the hip pocket, so when it's put away, it gives you a bit more padding. It would have been cool if they had a dedicated pocket for the hood on a ping pioneer.

If I need the rain hood on, it’s no doubt going to rain. This means I’ll either have all wet get in my nice lite trolley bag that would need to be emptied to dry or have to use a full weather wet bag all year round which don’t seem to have a decent size cooler pocket.

It’s easier to just swap clubs into a waterproof stand bag when needed, I also use that at the range instead of taking a full cart bag.
You keep offering extra detail but all that does is reinforce that your method requires more effort than just leaving the rain cover on! I appreciate you feel the extra effort is worthwhile to you, but...

If it is going to rain enough so that my club grips are going to get soaked from rain pouring in at the top of the bag, then I’m not playing out of choice. On the couple of occasions a year I might just have to play even though I really don’t want to, I will take the rain cover out of the boot and attach it. But the idea of needing it so often that it’s permanently on doesn’t sound like a leisure pursuit for me.

It does amaze me how much people complicate things when it comes to golf. I have one bag, can be carried or used on a trolley, fully waterproof, rain hood can be folded down or removed - use it all year round. What could be simpler?

From a personal point of view I’ve not managed to find a carry bag that’s waterproof that has a decent cooler pocket otherwise one would be great.

Two bags work “for me”, other do things that suit them. Golf’s a personal sport.

Let’s not add the vintage & retro stuff into this 😉

Funny this thread.

It takes me less than 30 seconds to fit my rain hood. I only fit it when raining. Not threatening to rain, but raining.

I am teeing off today at 1pm and forecast is rain 2-4, but it won't be raining at 1pm, so will be in a pocket until it does.

Get home, give it a shake and if soaking, leave it to dry and pop back in.

Some people leave their plastic wrapping on their bag legs. I find that weird, but it isn't my bag.

Keeps the legs clean.

Ps, no I have no plastic in my stand bag legs.

No sniping from me. You're the one who stated the bag has a problem. Feels like you take 2+2 and get 5.

PS: I thought my death star comment was under rated.

I don't like the hood, but it matches the bag, is waterproof and fits well, so not really a general problem, or a deficiency. I simply really like the alternative I have sourced.

Sorry, not a sci-fi fan, but others may be giggling away to themselves.

A friend has this and it's really good Sun Mountain

It's better than the rain cover that's standard with bags imo.
I had one but after 18 months the plastic connectors started to break and others brittle. sun Mountain customer care just said it’s out of warranty. I’ve now bought a titleist towel/rain cover which I’ll see how I get on with

I’ve had one they do a ok job would have persevered with it but I clipped the towel on my bag too low one day last summer and it chewed up under my Pk wheels and ripped clean off the clip
