I'd love to try Augusta but if I had to choose a course to play the rest of my life it would be a links course.

Parkland has trees and bushes for its defence. The links has the wind. The trees and bushes never move, and you end up playing the same course virtually every day. A links course changes every day, and even mid round, because of the wind. What's a 6 iron one day could be a wedge the next or a 5 wood...

Parkland becomes boring but links... each to their own though.

1st one for me, but then I guess that has to do with where I live and the type of courses I play on. I dare say if I was from north of the border I go for the 2nd one, but I'm not and it just looks dull to me.

Well, Augusta's certainly purty and the host of a (usually) very good tournament early in the season.

But.

If I was offered life membership at Augusta or at Turnberry or Machrihanish or Birkdale, I'd choose the links bad boys any day!!

Far, far more variety.

Is the correct answer! If it were practical, I wouldn't be sorry if I never set foot on a parkland course again, links or heathland golf is where I enjoy myself the most. Unfortunately I am too far from the seaside to make a links course a practical home base.

If you are going to put an iconic Augusta hole up you need a comparison, like the postage stamp at Royal Troon with its views or capturing the Turnberry lighthouse or the Road Hole at the Old Course St Andrews

I don't like playing amongst the shrubs of a glorified cooncil parks so give me the natural look and feel of links every time.
If it has to be inland golf I'll settle for heathland.

As said before i just dont get the hype around links , but its all down to personal choice & comparing like with like ,

Zzzzzzzzzzzzz

At least your constant in the drivel you are posting here.

that's a bit unfair, it's a legitimate question. My answer would be both, we are lucky in the Uk that we have access to top links & top inlands tracks.

I'd join the best course I could, links/parkland or heathland !

If I had to choose THE course to finish my days on it would be Carnoustie. It starts good, get's better and the last 3 holes just blow your mind.

16th @ Augusta - really like it.
17th @ Augusta - zzzzzzzz.
18th @ Augusta - spoilt it when they moved the tee back.
