Hi folks

I have been thinking about heading up to watch the Scottish Open Golf at Castle Stuart. Idea is maybe to follow one group and then have a look round and see what goes on at an event. I am genuinely in the dark about what to expect in terms of the event as I've never been to a Pro Golf comp before!

Can anyone advise about what to expect there-will there be any promo stands from the manufacturers? Things to look at other than the players?

Is there quite a few options in terms of eating once at the venue?

I realise many folk will not be familiar with the specific event but if you've been to another then please share the info!

Usually plenty to see and do aside from watch the golf...

Plenty of food/drink on sale mostly at wallet shrinking prices...

Still a good day out and I guess you've worked it out already but comfortable footwear is a must...

Yeah, food/drink onsite is generally very expensive but there won't be any restrictions about taking your own stuff in. I usually buy sandwiches and fruit from the nearest supermarket and get a bottle of water as well. You should be fine taking in mobiles (on silent obviously) and if you are discreet you might be able to get a few pics. I'll follow a couple of smaller groups round for a while then sit in one of the stands and watch a few bigger groups go through.

Most events have some sort of tented village where you can buy merchandise but you will pay more than high street prices. If you go on a practice day it's more relaxed, might even get to chat to a few of the players if you are lucky.

Castle Stuart has some great vantage points, especially watching the first, 2nd, 10 and 11 holes as they are well below the level of the rest of the course.
