Go tiger

Always thought golf competitions were won by the leading player at the end of day four and not day one. I am not a fan of Tiger personally, but do recognise good golf when I see it, and having watched the golf today Tiger will be hard to beat if the conditions remain the same. Just my opinion of course.

You see I don't buy this comment, if conditions remain the same for 4 days then why is everyone so sure he'll be the one to beat?

If conditions were that easy for him then why is he 2 back and not 2 clear?

My mistake, not 2 back................3 back.

You da man Tiger........:blah:

Nobody wins after day one.

We will just have to wait and see. My opinion is Tigers weakness is his driving, and calm conditions means he hardly has to use it. Give him a three wood, iron off the tee and he looks pretty impressive to me. I just comment on what I see.

I never said anyone does but by your logic he's the man to beat because of the conditions.

If they suit him so much then why is he not at the top after day one?

Because anyone who knows anything about golf knows it isn't that simple.

I don't think anyone on this thread has said he will win, just that he's looking pretty impressive. Fo someone whodoesn't like Tiger love-ins you're sure making a lot of posts on this one :D

And rightly so, Im trying to put the point accross that Tiger isn't the only player who has made a positive start in this open.

Yes he played impressively yesterday but many played better and I don't see any threads about them (other than the one about the best caddy to lead a major). Zach Johnson is a major winner, has an impressive pedigree and is just off a good win, why has he not had a mention yet despite the fact he is 2 shots better off?

The golfing world aint all about Tiger.

Because Zach is a tediously dull god botherer?

I think the point is that tiger is in the mix. No one is saying that he will win, but it's ominous that he's up there. On the hand, people do lose on day 1 (rose, clarke, phil...).

Very good looking leaderboard. I'm backing/hoping els wins it, but it would be nice to see lawrie (mainly to rub one in the face of those who don't take him seriously) or donald to get there. Happy to see an aussie on top but can't see him hanging on.

I saw Zach at The Open at St.Andrews a while back. It was practice day and hosing it down and he was in the coaching area giving tips to the kids and signing stuff. Top bloke imo

He might well be, but he just doesn't come across that way on telly. Like many others, unless you meet them, all you can judge them on is interviews, and he comes across as dull.

The only pro golfer I have met is Harrington, and he is a top bloke. All the others might be like him, or they might all be knobs.

Who knows?

I met Paul McGinley at St Andrews on the 11th Tee at the Dunhill, he spoke to me and my son as he heard me commenting to my boy about his green and white towel, gave my son his ball and a mars bar from his bag which was something else for a 10 year old. My son is now 17 and he still talks about McGinley as his favourite golfer of all time.

Tiger looks to be swinging well at the moment. Wayne Grady has just said he hopes the wind gets up so he has to hit more drivers. Who said that before ?;)

Ok Tigers on the course and it's about to start on here, i'll catch you all when he's done and if he's top i'll eat a big bite of humble pie.

I don't think I'll need to starve untill he's done, I fancy he'll be around 4 back minimum.

Oh it will be so quiet on here without you.:mmm:

The Open has never been won on day two, so anyone within 10 shots or so after today will still be in with a chance. Bobby Clampett was leading by five after two days, seven ahead part way through his third round, and finished tied 10th.

Ok, the man to beat is finished and he's 1 worse from the top than he was yesterday, he'll be glad it doesn't get won on day 2 either.

How far back did I say he'd be? ;)

Lots of golf left.

For someone who claims he doesn't mind Tiger, you sure do a good job of really not liking him.

All I can say say is that if Tiger keeps playing as his is, whoever wins is really going to deserve their victory

Spot on. It'll be interesting to see. I think he might fall short t.b.h.

If he doesn't, then good for him.
