Went out for a round early this morning,
But my son must have been in my bag and took out my glove.
I didn't notice til I was about to tee off

Stood on the first tee I didn't really want to head back to the pro shop so I decided to play on with no glove.

Must say it worked for me and felt more control over the club.
Might start leaving the glove at home.

I don't wear a glove as I've [despite trying many] never found one to be a good fit... Big hands but with short fingers...

I use corded grips instead... I clean grips on a fairly regular basis and change them in spring time ready for summer season...

I use my glove as a mental trigger, when its on my game is all about making a good full swing. When its off I am committing to a short touch shot.

Works quite well.

I have yet to hear a reasonable argument for wearing a golf glove except for the poor wee souls who get blisters.
How much money do golfers spend a year on their 'dummies'.

Apart from the blisters and any other skin damage prevention its the mental advantages a grip provides. If a golfer feels they get an advantage from it then they should wear one, we need all the help within the rules that we can get in this game!

Edit: Like many things in golf it is also personal preference, it would be silly to say to a person that they are wasting money on buying gloves then you say you only buy a certain type of expensive grip because you prefer the feel...

Similar story myself a few weeks back. Haven't been wearing the glove and its working for me. I found with my small hands I needed a ladies glove so I was getting the p' taken out of me and always felt a little baggy and loose. Most definitely going to investigate new grips as an alternative.

.......so if you felt you got an 'advantage' by sucking a babys dummy when playing golf you would?

Probably! Why do you think people have lucky rituals etc? I feel I have a better command of the club on full shots, doesnt matter if its only a marginal gain, I will take it. I use the taking off of the glove as a mental trigger, there are other reasons like some people get sweaty palms.

EDIT: Personally I do not have any lucky rituals, or believe they work for me. I do feel I have a basic understanding of sports psycology, no matter how much of a scientist I am I cannot stop being human on the golf course and subject to all the fears, pressure and adrenaline we get from the game of golf.

What kind of guff are you talking? Comparing a dummy to a glove get a grip. If folk want to wear one and spend THEIR money on it who cares or what does it really matter to you?

gloves are more of a hindrance than anything,I just like to keep it simple, the feel on my driver is one of the main reasons why I dont wear a glove, all my mates use one,but they cant give a good reason for it...

Tell me why a glove is not a babys dummy them.

A dummy would not offer a marginal increase in the grip of the club nor protect the hand from injury.

If you feel the need to not wear a glove thats great, you will have a better connection to the club on touch shots. I feel I need it for full shots or near full shots as my hands can get slippy without one. I also get some mental benefits such as feeling more secure allowing me to keep rhythm and tempo in my long game.

I have never needed to hit a "feel" driver shot, I look for distance over feel with everything above about a 6 iron. Feel for me is where I am aiming at the pin and need to land in a certain place, I cannot do that with anything more than a 7 iron due to my ability.

If you hands get wet or sweaty surely you would be better off drying them on a towel.
By all logic a glove should give you less control of your club not more.

And now the killer punch.......... why don't you wear two?

So your argument is ^that? Like I said in my previous post why do you care so much if someone chooses to wear one?

To try and get a reason, it seems that they know few people who have a reason, I know I do as I have stated above. If someone does not have a reason then they should try playing without one and see if it works for them.
