Glastonbury

I can't say I've ever been a huge stones fan, I found it all a bit "meh" if I'm honest.

I thought the Arctic Monkeys were outstanding though, Alex Turner has really come on as a performer since I last saw them 4 years ago.

Hopefully I'll be there next year!

:blah::blah::blah:

Lets see where the Arctic Monkeys, Mumfords etc are in 50 years time.;)

Longevity does not give you a god given right to bore the arris off people with lack lustre performances. I reckon the Arctics and Mumford may well decide to give up at an age appropriate juncture.

I love the stones but last night they looked like puppets on stage and they murdered sympathy for the devil :(

Certainly retired and quite possibly dead. Unlike the Rolling Stones who certainly SHOULD be retired and are riding the lucky train still being alive given what they have consumed over the years.

Michael Eavis is out of line describing that performance as THE iconic moment of 43 years of Glasto. Its actually quite sad that there is such a dearth of true British headline talent that he had to take a contractual shafting from multi millionaire pensioners just to get them there 20 years past the time when they were worthy of headline status. Hopefully the box has been ticked now and that's the last we will see of them.

I'm bored stupid watching Mumford & Sons, I can appreciate they're talented it's just I'm not into them at all

This.

Mind numbingly unentertaining self indulgent nonenties with music degrees and little else. Undoubtedly very talented techically Equally boring. Can't see them having the get up and go to indulge in lurid group sex and chucking tellies out of hotel room windows. It's not really rock'n'roll is it ? More like soup and a roll.

Get AC/DC to headline this next year !!!!! Still the best live band in the world by a distance.

Sod that, Iron Maiden although they are now way past their best as well.

I liked all the middle class kids pretending to be black whilst watching Public Enemy.

'I think one should Fight the Power Freddy' 'Yes Rupert, I have the fear of a black planet as well'

I think the booking of The Stones was just so Eavis could say he has completed the set and every major band in the past 20 years has headlined it now. Apart from Dumpy's Rusty Nuts. But I can't see the fun in trying to see a band but having your view blocked by loads of poeple on other peoples shoulders and 100s of flags. When they did the shots from the crowd you could see chuff all, and that's no doubt from prime camera positions. So god knows what the average punter would see. And yes I do sound old.

The Stones were awful, especially Jagger, something very undignified in watching 70 year old men trying to behave like teenagers.
Charlie Watts and Ronnie Woods looked shamefaced.

Rather my feelings as well. Was never a Stones fan though did like some of their singles over the years. I never bought a single or album and only got Some Girls on tape - though it is pretty darned good. Maybe I would have got the Stones if I'd been inclinded to listen to more of their stuff - but I didn't on both counts and now probably too late - even if I could be bothered. I prefer the Arctic Monkeys

I cant see the young people of today all going to Glasto (when did the name change) to see the stones! I'd reckon about 99% of them couldnt tell you the bands names or more than 1 track they ever did!

It's like putting on George Formby singing 'when I'm cleaning windows' and saying he was massive in his day so like him now!

I think you would be surprised by the age range, it's not all youngsters that attend.

Apparently the average age of a "festivalgoer" is in the late 30's now, so the Rolling Stones aren't completely irrelevant to people in that sort of age group.
