i think you are missing the whole point of a this forum , which is to discuss golf . don't see you starting many interesting topics or even getting involved in discussions only trolling with your little clique. Cabby started more posts in the short time he was here that you have even contributed to in your 7 years. and as for meets what precisely has that got to do with anything. i suggest you read Mike H post about Trolling and flaming then disappear back under your stone
To be fair, I think a lot of Cabby's topics were tongue-in-cheek trolling, and a few people did overreact when it's better to ignore him and let him get on with it. Blame on both sides I would say!

This topic is gone off the rails somewhat. :sneaky:

My little clique? Care to expand on that please? And I think you'll find I have started plenty of interesting threads but you just choose to come out with a pointless statement that has no truth to it. Cabby started plenty of posts, most of them with the intention of winding people up. And regarding meets, that is how lots of people on here have made friends, many of them long term and also raised lots of money for charity etc. You should try it, maybe then people would change their opinion of you (y)

Ive been to plenty of meets thanks, but the whole point of this forum is to discuss golf. many people on here will never meet, why should they, they come to discuss golf with people who are passionate about it.

And a whole lot more than just discuss golf. Like I said, lifelong friendships have been formed, money has been raised for charity and lots of other things.

You carry on chatting only dear boy.

That’s a genuinely interesting question, what’s the point of the forum?? For me I joined to go to meets, etc. These have been less frequent for me recently but the original reason was valid. Talking Golf with strangers is boring IMO.
I also quite like using it as a type of social barometer. Some of the opinions posted are eye opening, even from the clique

Yep it seemed the little Scottish Clique that formed when he arrived didn’t seem to help him out and prob encouraged him to post to look to get a reaction. It’s no surprise the place is less hostile since he left
WOW, just WOW!

It’s just people who play together a few times over the and have a laugh especially the night before, they aren’t cliques

I'm scared to go out now for a couple of beers the night before H4H in case I'm put in the wrong clique......or people think I'm in a clique....or - god forbid - I'm classed as not being clique-y enough to belong to a clique!! Arrrggghhh, better stay in my room and not socialise with anyone!

Name and shame them Kell

It’s not worth the hassle but I’ve seen the two faced nature of certain cliques come out at meets and then through interactions afterwards. I’ve had people be super nice to my face and then say some really nasty stuff behind my back, but it was said to people who felt more loyalty to me.

It’s just poisonous at times.
