Hi All,

This is my first post on here so firstly hello

I’ve only been playing for about a year although I have an injury that’s not golf related but does mean I have not been able to play for several months!

On my road to recovery I want to get back to fitness but want to know of any exercises /routines that would specifically help my golf game?.

Thanks for your help

Darren

Core muscles and legs and general stamina for the closing holes.

Stong fingers, hands, wrists and forearms helps for hacking out the long stuff also.

Whats your injury?

Darren welcome to the best golf forum on the web. Tell us all a bit more about yourself. Where do you live and play? what clubs do you have and what's your handicap.

What injury are you struggling with to be unable to play for so long?

Hi guys

thanks for the replies, my injury is dislocated collar bone which i done snowboarding new years eve, resulting in 2 lots of surgery, its going to take another 2 months before im fit!

i have a membership at sprowston manor nr norwich
as for handicap i dont have one but it would be high, i was waiting to be able to go round in under 100 before getting one, i was just about there before xmas then knackered my shoulder - so now as i cant swing a club yet i want to give myself a head start fitness wise, although i am limited at the moment as to what i can do with the shoulder

With this injury (and not knowing how long ago it was or how severe) I would suggest doing stretch exercises (yoga is good) and little else until you feel you should do more, then build a slow motion swing routine to stretch and prepare your body for whats to come.

Rushing into a fitness regime after this injury aiming for golf fitness could do you some harm if not careful.

You can get the rest of you fit by just running/cycling etc, but be careful trying to get this injured area match fit too quickly. ;)

First of all, welcome to the forum Darren.

Judging by your second post, re the snowboarding accident, you're of the younger generation? So chances are you're probably fairly fit anyway. In my view you don't have to be super fit to play golf, so I'd suggest just walking to start with, followed by brisk walking and then some running if shoulder permits. Then you'll have a base fitness to work on more specifics when injury permits and if you feel it necessary.
