Get Fitter, Faster, Lighter, Stronger 2018

I joined a gym two weeks ago. It's the first time I've been a gym member for about 5 years. Last year I was generally able to maintain my weight by playing football 3-4 times a week, but since Christmas even that hasn't been enough. Like my food too much I guess - and age catching up with me - who knows. So now I'm going gym Monday and/or Thursday, playing football Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday, and golf whenever I don't have football on the weekend. My goal is simply to be closer to 12 stone than 13 stone. I joined the gym when I actually went over 13 stone for the first time in years.
 
Just done my first run for a few weeks due to the weather, was a bit tough but the difference in my fitness from this time last year is black and white.
Got spot in the Great North Run again this year so it's only upwards and onwards :thup:
 
I was doing really well, 5lbs down in 2 weeks, sub 30min 5k on my 2nd run - then my gout flared up for the first time in 5 years....funnily enough which was when I last decided to get fit!

Sticking to the healthy eating, which I don’t find hard, and I’ve got loads of gym kit waiting to go into the cellar, which I can’t clear with my dodgy foot!
 
Dont know about fitter or faster. But lighter. Well ave been on me diet since week last monday. Started at 13st 10lb and yesterday the scales were groaning at 13st dead. Its only 10 lb and ave four days of diet to go. But Tuesday i played our back 9 and could move a bit more than normal. Is it coz 10lb of fat is gone. Anyway i smashed our back nine for 23 points in 42 shots. Me lowest ever. Happy coincidence. Probably another eureka moment that lasts a week tops.
 
I started 2017 weighing in at 17st 2lbs, and weighed 15st 4lbs yesterday. Now retired and away from the 40+hrs sat at the desk I'm hoping to be a little more active.

No dis-respect Tash but this is one of the reasons these threads dont last long,this is wrong on so many fronts.

Diets dont work,life styles do.
Its not 10lbs of fat.
Too much weight loss too quick a recipe for putting it back on and more.

Its called the Mayo diet. Google it online and look under images. Did it years ago when mining. Missis T said she was Overweight and went on it so I said I would support her. Just jumped on scales after a round trip to Southampton and am below 13stone now. My usual happy weight is 13 stone 7lb without busting a gut. She said she will start cooking weight watcher meals after Monday which are gorgeous. Am sure over the course of time most will go back on. As long as hers stays off al be happy.

Does it involve eating lots of mayonnaise with everything? Because I love mayonnaise, I could get on board with that.
 
Goals which are in daily view for me to remember when it hurts why i'm doing it!

Run a sub 25 minute 5k (this should be easy, i am at 25:50 now)
Run a sub 50 minute 10k
Run my first half Marathon in March in Sub 2 hours
Swim 1km non stop
Complete an Olympic Triathlon
Run a total of 1000km for the year

Renewed my goals and took off the Olympic Triathlon for this year, thats gone to 2019. But I'm 2 down out of 5!!!

Parkrun under 25 minutes and did a half marathon yesterday in (after Reading half got cancelled with snow) 1hr 57mins!! Got 2 10k races next month and hoping to tick off the sub 50 minute 10k!

Swimming goal is going to be the hardest as i still suck at swimming, but up to 418km year to date running! Also did my first ever Duathlon recently which was awesome!

Well done mate, I'm very jealous. Waiting on a scan on my hamstring, can't do anything overly energetic.
