Gap wedges- are they worth it?

My gap wedge is my go to club for chips from anywhere but a greenside bunker. No idea what loft my pw is put only tend to use it when the shot i smack on the yardage i get with my PW.

Though in saying that don't carry it during the winter just stick with PW and SW.

i couldnt live wihtout my gap wedge, current pw is 44* i think, and i hit that about 125-130 on a full hit (its ridiculous) and a 56* jaws wedge that i hit about 85 (hitting it any harder and it just spins back to me and ends up closer) so the 50 degree wedge is an absolute must for me bridging the gap

i carry 4 wedges with various "markings" on them, they really are an 8i, 9i, PW and SW in old language, but these days they are called P G S and L - i thought they stood for "Ping Golfers Score Lower"

I hit my PW 120, my GW 100 and my SW 80. Good set up for me. If i need to hit it 110 i use my PW and thin it 130 out of bounds...... ;)

I have the Cobra S2 Forged irons and have both the PW and GW at 43 & 49 degrees. I have coupled these with a TM XFT 54 and 60 degree wedges and this gives me consistant yardages between shots.

I would rather sacrifice a 3 iron or hybrid in favour of having an extra wedge in my bag as I find it far easier to compensate for a 3 iron or equivelant hybrid by using a 5 or 7 wood and choking down on the grip.

My PW is 44 degrees, my SW is 54 so the gap wedge at 49 fits in nicely. Don't use it that often though, I tend to crank the PW open a bit if I need to pop it up a bit quicker.
I like to carry it around with me though.

We have a couple of par 3's that are the perfect distance for my 53* wedge so it's ideal. Can also use it on approach shots where a 58* wedge really isn't suitable.
