I hitmy driver well and love my 5 wood, both xhot2. 5 wood goes 200 yards on the dot (mostly). I currently have a gap from here to my 5 iron (AP2's). I've got rid of two Miz JPZ stell shafted hybrids 5 and 4 as i never really hit them well.
I've had an RBZ 1 hybrid in the past but never got on with that.

What would you suggest in the gap, something 170 to 200 yards? A 7 wood maybe?

7 wood is my go to club, but it went further than my 5 wood when I had one. it's been a let down in recent weeks though. When it's behaving it's great. So either that or a 4 hybrid/4 iron.

Easiest answer is try and borrow what's sitting on your mates naughty step and go from there. Or, get yourself to a shop where you can have a play around

Might be a little older than you are looking for, although means you could probably pick up one as a cheap experiment. The Adams Super S hybrid ( 22 deg / 4) is a larger headed hybrid so not much off a FW.
Did you try anything from the xhot 2 range in that area (think they did 23 deg hybrid) ?

X2 Hot 4h is 22° and is a cracking club...but might go a bit more than 170..
They did a 5h at about 25/26° - that might work.
Similar lofts in the XR range
Very forgiving.

Currently have a 24 degree hybrid titleist 915. best thing since sliced bread.

Hoping the 27 degree lands through my letterbox tomorrow so I can dump my 5 iron too.

I will have...

6iron
24 hybrid
27 hybrid
5 wood.

Great gaps.

So you have one club between your driver and 5 iron.
I would suggest you have more than 1 gap, unless of course you have about 6 wedges.
Have you ever had a lesson on hybrids?

I have a Yonex XPG 22 degree that is perfect to fill the gap from a 5 iron to 5 wood.

SO easy to hit and goes around 195 yards

I have a 7 wood and a 9 wood, between a 6 iron and 5 wood. I would actually like an 11 wood, to get rid of my 6 iron.

To give you an idea have far they go for me, so you can see perhaps how far they would go for you:-
5 wood(19 degrees iirc) is about 200 carry(but tbh a bit of a hit/miss club),
7 wood(24 degrees IIRC) wood is 185 carry (love the club)a
9 wood(29 degrees I think) is about 170 carry (love this club more than my 7 wood and much more than the harder to hit 6 iron!).

These are all average strikes and standard speed, can get another 10-15 yards out of each one when swinging faster.

Therefore I would have thought 7 wood is the club you are after or the equivalent hybrid(never hit one of these).

20-22 Degree Hybrid/Utility. Dumped my 4 iron earlier this year for one of these & never looked back.
