If there is 3 or 4 of us on a summer evening, we quite often play skins with 50p at stake on every hole.
It keeps your interest going as you can be 3/4 holes down, and then win 5 in one go anyway !!
good fun, light hearted and not too serious.

Match play is good too, and Stableford's which are Handicap Qualifying are a less pressure situation to get your handicap down.

However, Stroke/Medal play is the only true indicator of how well you have played, and perhaps should be the only method by which Handicaps are judged ?

The only thing stroke play is, is an accurate measure of the number of shots taken and not how well you have played golf. Its a logical way of measuring h/c and its a great measure in a stroke play match and does offer good competition.

The truest measure of how well you play lies within your state of mind after a round, how much you have achieved/improved and satisfied yourself.

The truest form of golf for me is match play, some of the best golf Ive ever played has been match play and over the years some of my best scores too.

Stableford to me is a laugh and all it ever will be as long as scores of 46 or more are posted by several players not just one or two and it favours the high h/capper or dodgy h/capper always, you can tell this by the frequency they win stableford comps.

Foursomes is often reffered to as the truest form of golf.

A game I hate.

Skins is probably the most fun, provided all the players understand it, and enter into the banter. If not, it is a waste of time. If allegiances change on every shot, it can be brilliant.
