for me its a hobby, and i enjoy it alot, it will only become an obesession if or when i stop improving.

but in 18months ive went from rounds of 100+ (lol) to joining a club and breaking into the 70s in two medal rounds.

so im getting better, and trying hard doesnt help me, enjoying the practice and play does.

so i play with my mates and practice with them too, that for me keeps it ultra competitive whilst being fun.

Obsession for me.

I have played various other sports, but I have never been so addicated to a sport as I have with golf.

Nor have I experienced such highs and lows in a sport as I have playing golf.

I do play golf every day ( weather permitting ) if not I go to the range…love it. It’s a good HOBBY to have. If it’s more than that you need help..

Interesting reading gents. I guess a follow up question, along the lines Swinger was suggesting, is has obsessing actually helped you get better. I guess it will vary but it made little difference to my scoring. I'm sure it may end up being cyclical but in my case it might just have been part of my therapy following diagnosis. Time will tell.

The poll result surprises me a little though... I expected a few more obsessors :D

Tiger me old chum!

I find that if I obsess with something then I don't perform to my full potential as I'm always on edge wanting to do better. However, if I just relax and enjoy what I'm doing then usually I do well. I used to fly quite regularly and would obsess about the perfect landing etc. it's only when I relaxed that the greasers would happen.

Life's too short to not enjoy yourself!
