From GDPR to Brexit, the letters begin

At the beginning of this year we had the armageddon of GDPR, remember that? GDPR was going to bring about the fall of civilisation, or was that the millenium bug, and create havoc for businesses and organisations all over the country. Letters and emails flew all over as permissions were sought, talks were attended, fear was everywhere. In the end, it was a damp squib. Lots of work, nothing seems to have really changed.

Now I am starting to get Brexit letters. 'As a supplier what are you doing to put in contingency plans to prevent widespread panic, epic shortages and general chaos?' Okay I may have changed some of the wording but you get the gist. I'd love to put 'nothing, stuff all' but I have to play the game. It's another pointless bit of letter collecting, appeasing a mind because I've said it will be okay so it will be. I've had 2 in the past week but no doubt this means an onslaught is about to happen. Thank heavens for copy & paste.

Our company has had a few as well. Suppose its arse covering as I imagine companies would have expected to have a bit more clarity by this stage, so close to the end of March.

Me too. I mean a million people have died as a result of aids and it was estimated in 2007 there were 12 million Aids orphans, but I'm not sure that is the common denominator as even the most fervent remainer would say that saying Brexit will do that is a bit 'project fear'. It's maybe that, according to wikipedia 'HIV/AIDS has had a great impact on society, both as an illness and as a source of discrimination The disease also has large economic impacts' and it is just being pointed out that brexit will also have large economic impacts. Which is something I think we can all agree on

No, but some of the hysteria surrounding it definitely was. Some fairly prominent Americans made Billions of dollars by creating the hysteria, then supplying the vaccine.

I suspect that the link is that people have created a hysteria about each of the situations listed that later turned out to be unwarranted.
However, it should be stated that on some of these occasions, certain politically well connected individuals have created the situation and then benefitted massively.
If you put Brexit into this group then the question has to be asked...
Which individuals created the situation and how much do they stand to gain financially.

Sorry I maybe been dense here but hundred of thousands have died as a result of the illnesses mentioned

Well apart from the town in Italy and of course UK leaving the EU - seems a rather crass attempt to be either clever or humorous.
