Me and my mate went in it last year and got through 4 rounds including Royal Lytham, but went out to lads from S&A.

We loved it, also played them two great courses. Lytham for £40 was great.

Today we had a home game and only 4 shots were given away between the four golfers. We were behind 6 times in the match (once by two holes) and was one down after 16. We were never up in the match.

Two birdies on the last 2 sealed it for us though, and even after one of the opponents hit the flag from 60 yards and nearly went in for 3 (on our par 4 eighteenth). I nearly had a heart attack, but he finished with a 5, and our 3 won it for us.

Made up and just go's to show it's not over until the ball is in the cup. Happy boy. :)

Played it in it last year and got to the last round before the supposed regional qualifier before losing to 2 lads who were at golf college. Enjoyed the knockout rounds but was a bit frustrated that they added in the regional qualifying round and that regional was over a 3 hour drive away!

Good luck in it

Darth - yes it's 4BBB, S and A is the local name for Southport and Ainsdale, a great course over the railway from Hillside. It's also an ex ryder cup venue (from the 50's). You can if you want, but most times you'll walk in with the others, but it is optional.

Bluewolf - I think it only started last year, but we enjoyed it so much, we went in again.

Fundy - did they have a final qualifier down south, or was yours the Shropshire one also. We went out in the round before, but was just one round shy of the final qualifier.

I remember getting the e-mail saying they have searched high and low for a suitable venue and it expounded "it is the first course designed by (expecting it to say Tiger Woods, Darren Clarke, Sergio Garcia et al) and it said Judas Priest's bass player".

As darth said they have a seperate way to qualify, which is as a one off winner at a few seperate qualifiers. Our path is via 4 qualifier rounds, maybe a final qualifier, then the finals are at the Oxfordshire (again, I think) whereby England, Ireland, Scotland and the Welsh teams all play each other. You also get "caps" as well.

I have been surprised no-one else has mentioned it on here TBH. Go in it next year, or go to one of the one-off qualifier days in your area. The website is www.fournationsgolfchallenge.co.uk

The one off qualifiers are expensive compared to the other format:-

English Pairs only

15th June – Staverton Park – Daventry (£94 per PAIR)

19th July – Oulton Hall – Leeds (£94 per PAIR)

24th July – Mottram Hall – Cheshire (£94 per PAIR)

7th August – Wokefield Park – Reading (£94 per PAIR)

16th August – Belton Woods – Grantham (£94 per PAIR)

22nd August – Mannings Heath – Nr. Horsham (£120 per PAIR)

Scottish Pairs only

12th July – The Carrick – Loch Lomond (£114 per PAIR)

Last year we played 2 home games, and Royal Lytham and SandA away only cost us £50 in total. Ok we got lucky with the draws, as sometimes you may get drawn away at crap clubs, or have a few home games, but normally the other team will invite you down to their gaff. In another comp, we have been asked down to Sandiway, which were looking forward to.

Thanks, Junior.

Lol you got some nice away games. We entered hoping to be drawn away to Woburn but no such luck lol

Same regional qualifier in Shropshire, hardly regional to an awful lot of those who were playing there (if they called it a national qualifier up front no one wouldve minded!)

Yes, the two lads we beat yesterday were jealous as they went in it last year, and got through to the same stage as us, but via 3 home games and one away game at a local muni!!!

Yes, they should call it a national qualifier, it wasn't far for us, but we just missed out anyway. At least in the regional qualifiers last year we dodged one bullet, as one of the north west teams was from Hull (the lad lives in Manchester, but his home club was in Hull, but they only went on the postcode of the home address and not the home club) so some had a long old jaunt.

I know winning the race to Dubai (amateur), northern matchplay, Volvo masters would be great, but to represent your country in a ryder cup style 2-3 days golf would be great. the lads who knocked us out got all the way, and it was also on the telly.
