Hi all but mostly to you guys up north of the border!
I'm heading towards Fort William for a week at the end of June with a mate of mine.
Although we're taking our wives we're also taking our golf clubs ...................... just in case .
We hope to maybe get a couple of round in, but we're not sure where.
Can any of you guys suggest one or two good courses within about, say, an hour of Fort William.
We'd prefer 18 hole courses but that's not essential. We just want a decent track where we are made to feel welcome & enjoy a nice pint afterwards.
Thanks in advance,

Slime.

Not a great area for golf I'm afraid. It's a bit grim oop North [west]
The courses up there are more 'holiday' golf than serious stuff.
Towards Mallaig there is a wee 9 holer at Arsaig which would probably win the best views from any golf course prize.
I think the Oban course is OK but a bit short. Fort William was a bit basic when I looked at it but that was a few years ago.

Maybe some of the other guys can give you better news.

I was up that way last year and as Doon says, there's not a huge choice around there.

I played Traigh which is a quirky 9 hole links course with superb views (maybe the one Doon refers to above at Arsaig?).
Thoroughly enjoyed it and unlike any course I've played before.

(You'll need to take your own ale as the clubhouse looks like an old cottage with few facilities)

No 18 holers I'm affaid.

Dragons tooth not bad ( i think Sona on here is a member)

Fort William, not good

Fort Augustus not bad

Traigh is beautiful, been past it but never played.

Failing that drive to Inverness and play Fortrose (links), Muir of Ord (heathland) or Inverness Golf club (parkland) all 18 holes and good ones at that.

I was thinking of adding that Patrick.

It is about an hours drive from Fort William to Dingwall. Much closer than tourists think. Beautiful drive along Loch Ness.
Watch out for the local drivers on that road as they tend to know the exact width of their cars and pass you at 60mph with 3 inches to spare.

At the moment it would take you an hour to get across the Kessock Bridge to get to Dingwall;)

As for Locals, make that 80 mph, but at that time of year you would be better watching out for the Dutch Tourists on the wrong side of the road towing a caravan;)

.........especially when they are coming out of the petrol station.

Sorry I was on the wrong side of the bridge, I meant Inverness instead of Dingwall

Dragons Tooth - lovely wee track in a cracking setting. Recommended.

Traigh - Absolutely stunning and make sure you pop into Cnoc Na Faire for a bite. Even the decline in the greens at Traigh can't detract from the beauty of the place.

I've not played Fort Bill but I don't think its that bad a track from what I hear.

Oban has Glencruitten which is fun and absolutely mad in places but great fun.
