Forgiving forged compact irons

No such thing?

Sorry, but forgiving equals clumpy, cast, game improvement, and forged, small, tidy, thin top line, sexy, equals flipping difficult to hit.

My advise is to get better!

Or, play what you like looking at, and accept that it isn't the best scoring club for you.

Ping, i30.

Twaddle!

Go olde Skool - MX25s! (or 23s)

None of the 'pretty-ised' colours; just totally functional, forgiving, forged beauties!

 Forthright as usual Murph :D

I play MP-54s as a 22 handicapper and would recommend. I find them very pleasing to the eye at address, and the milled cavity in the muscle back through the set appears to help with off centre hits.

Good looking clubs, blades excluded, are titleist cb (top of my good looking list), Nike pro combo, TM cb, what ever the current mizuno forged (not the clumpy GI semi forged jpxz junk), etc.

Anything multi material, with added bits of plastic, offset, thick top lines, busy back designs, fat soles, under cuts, etc, are just plain ugly.

My apex pros fall under a few of the above, but just about escape, because I like them!

Murph is right, difficult to find something that ticks all your boxes. Closest I can think of is Titleist AP2's, they are a really nice set of bats.

I wouldn't classify AP2s as forgiving, probably more so than MBs but if you hit it off centre, you don't get away with it. If I'm honest, I'm with Murph, if you want forgiving, you want ugly, if you don't want ugly then you have to accept that your shots will only be as good as your swing and you aren't gonna get any help from the club on your off days.

Another shout for the JPX 825 Pro. Nice compact looking head, forged and as forgiving as I think you will ever find in a this type of head. They really are easy clubs to hit, even off centre shots fly pretty well.

Almost - but a bit fussier than the MX25s. That 'pocket' puts me off, as does the non-metal bits - but only look wise.

I actually start to doubt whether Murph has actually seen/can remember the MX25s (or the 23s) and is simply going off the look of the later fussier looking ones like MX300s, which I agree are not 'great' looking.

I actually prefer the simple look of the 23s to the later/replacement 25s - it's that colour clash again!

I would never categorise Titleist CBs as 'forgiving'! But would certainly say they are nice looking!

+1 head is actually very small from the players perspective, if you ever have a dose of the J Arthurs these are lethal........allegedly

Not sure about a "colour clash" on the 25's. It is just black infill with a small area of black paint with the words "Hemi-Cog" in white/grey. Agree that the 23 is nice and clean but the "muscle" (for want of a better word) behind the centre of the head is much squarer than the 25, which has a nice curve to it. 23 is also slightly bigger. Can't really make up my mind on the 300s. Nice compact head head but not keen on the stick-on branding even though it is minimalist by JPX standards and the contours on the back of the head seem a bit fussy.

They all look good at address though and all have that lovely satin chrome finish and Mizuno feel.

Would accept though that compared to classics like he MP33 or MP68 they aren't lookers.

Would also give an honourable mention to my other irons MacGregor V-foil 1025c. Again great feel and pretty forgiving. Mirror chrome with classic MacGregor diamond face decoration. A bit of off set which I don't mind too much. Hard to find these days though.

I've used MP53s for the last couple of years, fantastic club although the shorter irons are a tad chunky, great club though with the right shaft.

Ive just bought some Mp54s about a month ago. No doubt about it they're Definately more forgiving than the 53s.
I'd say they'll suit anyone with a reasonably repeatable swing. They pick the ball up very well

It's ONLY the different colour that 'marks it down' ever so slightly. Everything else is fine, and black is the best 'non-metal' colour (as per the AP2s). But it gets a 9.5 rather than a 9.7 because of it.

MP33s 68s etc, while great looking are most definitely in the non-forgiving category. My old MP30s were more forgiving, but only as much as the Titty CBs.

And if you simply want beautiful CBs, then Tourstage MR23 US Spec or Miura CB301 (or McGregor PCB Tours) are the standard in my book, though Apex Pros are very very close!

Btw. If you want an 'unbiased' review of MR23 US Specs (the irons in my bag!), there's one by the owner of Scratch Golf (who rather good Japan Forged wedges and irons) here! http://www.golfopinions.com/forums/...3-story-starring-the-legendary-joe-kwok-long/

What Murph said but Mizuno JPX 825 Pro are close to a good middle ground.

I am in search of exactly what the op is asking for, I have narrowed it down to the cobra amp forged and the JXP825 pros, they are both beautiful to look at and still offer some forgiveness, although I am leaning towards the mizzies as I am keen to move away from the amp orange, but I totally disagree that forgiving means ugly, both these sets are lovely as are the ap2's.
