Guy been playing a few months now and my handicapp is steadily coming down only problem is my driver its a 15 pound palm ssprings one and only the odd shot I hit with it goes straight I realise this isn't just the clubss fault but really wondering if there's any drivers out there known for being forgiving and helping drives go straightr budget is around 50 issh pound

Thanks

It will be the shaft, it is probably not right for you at all! Sadly on that budget its difficult to get anything good. The best idea would be to spend the cash on lessons and ditch the driver completly. Use a long iron off the tee with your improved swing, I bet your scores will tumble if your driver keeps finding the clag.

I speak from experiece as I used to have a £25 driver, once I learnt how to swing the club I realised even though it said "stiff" on the shaft it was far from it and I had to aim miles left to compensate for the massive fade it usualy gave. The bad shot was the most horrendous hook every. Before I had lessons it was fine but after it was rubbish, mostly because my swing was better. I switched to a steel shafted mizuno driving iron I had and suddenly started finding fairways.

Not long afterwards I bought a driver and then got fitted for the shaft, not long after that I was off 12, just under 18 months after taking up the game properly.

if you can get your hands on one,id recommend a old model taylormade burner.i was fortunate enough to get one from duncan mackie off this forum.
think i only paid around £50 for that its a great club and very forgiving. just a regular shaft,10.5 loft.
im sure someone on here may help you out....

I got a cobra HS9 medium swing speed 12*. It's been working very well and much more forgiving than my previous 10.5* driver. Swing slow is the secret with it.

If you are interested I have a Cobra L5V with a new purple Golf Pride Multi Comound grip which I will send all in for £50?

Its a 9.5 Deg with a STIFF shaft and fully adjustable if you hit it left or right!!

Let me know

Or if you can put up with the noise and get one on the cheap a Cobra L4V or L5V are probably the most forgiving driver that you could buy....
Check out the reviews for them.

See if you can get hold of a Cobra ZL driver. I think it is a great club with simple adjustability and a good shaft. New ones albeit old stock are available and good for high handicappers.
