for an overnight stay wth 18 holes each day for a work group of say 12 people handicaps ranging from 15 to 26

youre thoughts are appreciated also looking at the belfry,De Vere Belton Woods,Forest of Arden or Hawkstone Park :D

I'm desperate to play forest pines, lived within 8 miles from it from when it was built to 3 years ago and never played it!

I have heard only good things and also that footballs love to play away there too :D

Let me know how you find it, if I ever do get a chance to play it sometime at least I can stay at my parents.

So then maybe being local I am biased but I would say choose Forest Pines for your function.

Belton Woods is ok but hotel there is expensive to stay at and also for food and drink. That said there are some decent bars and restaurants in Grantham despite what some people say about the place. You could also consider Greetham Valley. Whilst I am not a fan of the place from a members point of view the hotel is decent the 2 courses are good and the prices are ok and can also get great food down the road at the wheatsheaf pub

Are you in for the 'golf' or for the 'post golf'?....
lol! here lies the problem! for me its 90% golf 10% beers

others maybe 60/40 and im not sure who is the 60% beer or golf
this is what troubling me most about organizing it!

Forest Pines is a great venue, been there for meals in the hotel and drinks in the hotel many many times, also a good place to impress the ladies!

How about Cardiff....cheap hotel in cardiff and play at celtic manor...cheap as chips and the golfer win and the 'non' golfers win....
 this was my 1st idea but the lads have decided its max 2hrs drive from where we are based which is derby/notts

For those h/caps I reckon Forest Pines would be ideal. The 'all you can eat' breakfast is yummy too.

Forest Pines.
Courses are nice, very well manicured, fairways and greens were superb, bearing in mind the amount of traffic they get on them.
The hotel is "ok" but some of the bedrooms are in the next county judging by the walk from the reception desk!
Drinks are pricey, so take plenty of money.

Forest Pines is a great venue, a good place to impress the ladies!

One presumes these "ladies" are local and have never set foot outside of Brigg????

I've played Forest Pines a lot over the years and really like the course but it has to be Woodhall Spa every time for me.

The Hotchkin course is in different league to Forest Pines and one of the very best in the country.

When we did our trip to Woodhall Spa, we stayed in Lincoln. It's around half an hour drive to Woodhall Spa but has much more nightlife and plenty of decent restaurants too.

Forest of Arden is a nice course but again not in the same league as Woodhall Spa. Belton Woods is ok, nothing special. I've always thought the Belfry is over-rated but others really like it.

If you like your golf, it has to be Woodhall Spa. It is phenomenal. The thing about it as opposed to the others is that it is a truly memorable course. You will always remember playing Woodhall Spa as one of the best you've ever played and you just can't say that about the others.

Forest Pines is closer to great towns such as historical Brigg and vibrant Scunthorpe. Local sights to see include the Humber bridge. Or try Epworth, the birthplace of Methodism!

Here is a link to all the other great things to do and see in North Lincolnshire.

A family favourite is from the village my dad grew up in, Alkborough turf maze!

Forest Pines is a decent venue. The hotel is sound with good standard accomodation and very good food. The courses are fine if you like tree lined holes that dog leg all over the place. Point being that there isn't much in the way of variety of holes. Also, the greens are IMO a bit tricked up. They have buried an elephant in most of them and they can get too fast for the slopes. That said, it's always and enjoyable trip. Never been to Woodhall Spa but my bet would be the golf is far better. There's no on site hotel though. Hawkstone is a decent course but don't think the hotel is as good as Forest Pines.

Forest Pines is a great setup for Golf, - never stayed there but I'm sure it would be fine.

Woodhall Spa - one of THE best in the country, but with those Handicaps, it will be a tough round of golf.

Belfry. - Always good for a stay/play, but personally, wasnt impressed with the course.

Forest of Arden was always good, but havent been for a few years.

Hawkestone Park : Been at least twice, and love the courses, especially the Hawkestone. beautiful setting. Hotel pretty average though to be honest, and its a hike to any nightlife anywhere, I think it was Shrewsbury 30mins away for us.

Not sure about this 'impressing the ladies' thing, - whatever that implies !?

You don't know what a golf course should look like til you've played Woodhall. FP is noice enough (slow greens) but Woodhall is special. Tough, but special.
