Well after getting caught by torrential rain and hail storms on Sunday and walking off the course before completing the front 9, I've just checked the weather for the rest of the week and the news is not good.

According to Metcheck we will have rain all week and Saturday will be a washout with almost 20mm of rain.

I was looking forward to my new driver arriving hopefully by the weekend however there's nothing worse than wet range balls for ruining the face of a new shiny so I might just have to give the weekend a miss and get on with some of the jobs in the house that I've been promising to do.

The only positives I can find is that the rain will be good for the course and hopefully will allow some of the bare patches left from winter recover by spuring on the growth of the grass. The only other positive is that it can't get much worse

Medal today....

Sod that. I think even if I'd paid for the round in advance I'd be thinking twice about playing.
Wouldn't surprise me if the greens are submerged already.

Trouble is.. No golf = Spending money.......

Welcome chaps to what we had to put up with pretty much most of last summer, I recorded 11 cancelled competitions due to rain. It's only April, you'll have a good summer soon anyway plus you DO need the water just now.

Looked at the Metcheck forecast for Woodhall Spa for the week-end. It looks a bit grim. Chucking it down both days.
Looking on the Golfweather.com website it doesn't look quite so bad. No rain forecast for Saturday, a "chance" of rain on Sunday.
Bit of a breeze both days, but nothing we can't cope with.
Should work in our favour to be honest. The young 'un, hitting the ball long and high will see their balls blown into the trees.
Us old 'uns should be safer with our scuttles along the deck.

it is proper rank today, traffic backed up on both main roads into the town/a1 glad I am not at work.

The weekend is gonna be great cos if its cold and wet the old codgers wont be able to swing due to their arthritis :)

Chucking it down here so have cancelled plans for the course and range will have to do instead. Played yesterday and the course was very wet in places already with puddles on some fairways and the ground staff had roped off some of the wetter aprons. Perhaps the water companies should have declared a drought months ago!

Just paid the balance for Woodhall and been speaking to the guy in the admin office. Hotchkin course is in superb condition despite the rain as it is on sandy soil and drains really well. Bracken course is in good condition too, and despite the rain forecast for the next couple of days he doesn't think we are going to be disappointed with it.
Just hope it's not to bad on the day itself. My glasses steam up, especially when I go 3 up and start getting excited.

well we are closed today, as much for the already flooded carpark as anything else - but then again 90% of the field had already decided to pull out of the scheduled comp.....

as to the rest of the week and the weekend - can't see any changes really; intensity may vary but the underlying scenario is wet and breezy.

running it specific to Woodhall Spa, the prediction is that you may dodge Sat but get hit by the next really big downpoor (after today's) through Sun morning.

It was lovely and sunny here yesterday and course was packed last night. Forecast looks dull for Saturday but only 20% chance of rain at the moment touch wood!

I dont think i could handle another competition being washed out after last Saturday!!

Looking rubbish, meant to be playing tomorrow. Oh then I have the small matter of getting married on Friday......bring on some sunshine!!
Congrats, Matts! Fingers crossed the weather holds for your big day, and by that I mean Friday! ;)

Playing pairs match at Westerham on Saturday. I could cope with showers, but what we've got today is horrible! :( May need to give the waterproofs a bit more tent spray tonight!
