Think this confirms that we need moderators.

The BBC website is a perfect example of how to run a forum, all new posters have to have their first 25 posts confirmed before they are set lose on the forum.

They are a genuine sale, please only reply if you're interested in buying.
Please only post here if you are genuinely wanting to have a bit of banter and discuss all things golf, sales only are not welcome.

Very vague advert what shafts/flex are in all the clubs, what lengths the putter.

You would get a better response joining in on the forum before selling a shed load of matching gear not even Medwayjon has that many Titleist clubs

Good try though

If they were a prize, they owe you nothing? or am I wrong.

Stick them on ebay or advertise them in the local paper....

I'm not saying they are not a good price, but you could spend ages on the 'net trying to flog such a premium set....

Forums are not ideal (although you might get lucky), if you don't use ebay, maybe wait until the spring and put a nice ad in the local paper.....safest to not mention the prize thing!! :)

I'd like to offer a definitive idea on what to do, but it'd be like me trying to shift a literally brand new car...

I've bought one or two brand new items off ebay and something confidently described as brand new usually attracts attention. Keep the wrappers on etc.

The only thing I would mention is that RRP is pretty much useless on old season kit, I suppose I but like saying "car, brand new, but 2007 model"...if you get my drift. Might be better to advertise as "cost x amount"???

Westfield,

Let me try and explain the situation which might help you understand why people are so defensive. This part of the forum was originally set up so that forum members, i.e. thos that actually use site for talking about golf, could sell any unwanted gear amongst themselves or offer kit for trial by other members.

Initially it was working fine but in recent time we have been flooded by numerous first time sellers trying to flog dodgy kit (imitations), dubious timeshares and posting links to their online golf stores.

Let me put it to you like this. If you had all this gear to sell and walked into a packed clubhouse and just blurted out to all and sundry in the room "stop what you are doing and look at this great geat I can let you have for £800" what do you think the response wouldbe? Now if you got chatting to a few members in the clubhouse and asked would anyone be interested or know someone who might you would get a warmer and better response.

To be fair, if it is genuinely an unwanted competition prize the question shouting loudly is why enter it in the first place? I'm not sure coming on here as a newbie and trying to flog something you got free for £800 is going to get you many offers. My advice would be to either post a few pics so people can see what they are getting along with detailed specifications (shaft make, putter length etc) or to try and flog it on e-bay. Alternatively you could try Todays Golfer's site as they are a lot less discerning than many on here and you may get a few offers especially with a pick.

I hope that explains why some of the forrumers on here are a little reticent. We are getting a little frustrated with the influx of newbies jumping in to flog their wares without event trying to join in on the main board first. You aren't the first and won't be the last but I'm not sure this is the right marketplace for you.

If you have a For Sale forum on a golfing website I think you really should expect people to be on there trying to sell things. Seems pretty obvious really, but clearly I have come to the wrong place judging by some of the stupid responses.

They are an unwanted competition prize, hence reason for sale.

I would imagine as an unwanted gift, the seller doesn't play so wouldn't want to join our community and just use the advertisment space 'free of charge' so to speak.

I may be wrong though....... she maybe a ping fan :D
