Footjoys new spikeless shoe

I see these type of shoe are all the rage at the moment.
I believe,correct me if im wrong,this stems from when Fred couples looked like he was wearing plimsoles.
Also correct me again if im wrong that Ernie and Justin Rose wear these type of shoes.
Surely these shoes are for players that hit it smoothly as apposed to someone like Rory who probably
needs all the stability he can get.
I have a slight problem that my left foot tends to slide outwards around impact,so to me im definately looking for
more stability, not less.
Also the shoes i have had in the past have generally lasted two whole seasons,with the spikes being changed
2 or 3 times.
My question would be will the rubbers last as long as the shoes,because once they start wearing and the grip
is lost,they then would be rendered useless.

To be fair, to me these look somewhere between the sportier looking 'traditional' golf shoes and those awful things that Rose and Couples wear. I quite like the look of the new FJ Spikeless, but just wish they came in black for the winter months. They certainly appear to have quite an aggressive grip pattern, for being 'spikeless'.

Del if you are looking at black, go look at Adidas offering on them, they look great.
 
Ha! Ha! Replied to each other at the same time! Fed up with Adidas wearing away at the heel. Bring back the 360 3.0's is what I say!

Yes,agree with this.
Im sure Footjoy are testing the water.
Maybe if they catch on,a bigger more sellective range will follow.

Just been on their website and there are five colour options, including black, although the entire range may only be available to the US market??
 
Interesting to see what happens next time I wear a pair of casual shoes in the clubhouse that have a 'trainer/sports shoe' styling. Will our steward continue to (correctly) pull me up for wearing sports-style casual shoes in the clubhouse (not allowed) when sports-style golf shoes are allowed.

Indeed as some golf shoes are now almost indistinguishable from 'trainers' how can a club ban trainers in the clubhouse if they don;'t ban trainer-style golf shoes. If it's the style that matters then golf shoe or not - they shouldn't be allowed in the clubhouse. Will have to check if welly-boot style golf shoes are allowed in the CH - these are truly hideous.

yes Tony, you're spot on. Couples wears Ecco and Rose is wearing Adidas Adicross. I've got the Adidas ones and they're great. As comfortable as trainers but grip really well. I've had them all summer (and wore them to and from the course, so plenty of hard ground wear) and the nobbles/dimples/lumps are all is excellent condition. I might even splash out and get some of the Ecco's (they're twice the price but better leather) for next summer.
 
I've had a pair of Ecco's for just over 2 years now. And they are great. Soles show no sign of wear.

They are super comfortable but I only wear them on dry conditions, they give me all the grip I need, even on uneven lies.

When it's wet it's FJ Contours all the way.

I've also got a pair of White and Blue Adicross, but they aren't as good as the Ecco's. IMHO. The material isn't as soft and they aren't quite as comfortable. But you get what you pay for. think I coughed up over £100 for the Ecco's and about £50 for the AdiCross.

The guy I play with got the FJ's after me wearing mine all the time, and they look pretty similar to the Ecco's. He loves em as well know.

Other advantage, can stick um on at home, drive to the course, grab my bag and run to the tee. No messing around with changing shoes. And they let you wear them in the clubhouse :eek:, so no messing there either. :D

I remember a day long ago when shoes had a pimpled sole so these aren't anything revolutionary. Ideal if you are playing sun drenched courses in the US but not so practical at this time of year on a sodden course with leaves beginning to fall. I do like them a lot and lots of good styles out there and IF we get a summer next year and IF they continue to expand the lines and styles they are definitely worth investing in
