Played in a greensomes on Saturday, shot gun start, morning or afternoon tee off.

We shot 40 points in the morning (best score), but 2 other teams scored 40 in the afternoon, when the wind had dropped.

So we came 3rd on count back.

What is the point of a count back in a shot gun? It isn't like you get squeaky bum down the stretch, as the holes are played in the wrong order.

The other annoying thing is the shots situation. We got 0.6 x lowest and 0.4 times highest. So 4 x 0.6 + 10 x 0.4, which is 2.4 + 4.0 = 6.4, ie 6 shots.

However, if you take actual, instead of playing, we would get 4.4 x 0.6 + 9.7 x 0.4, which is 2.64 + 3.88 = 6.52 which is 7.

Then we win.

Yep. That'll be me.

I just can't see the point in taking a rounded up number, multiplying it by a precise 0.6, and then rounding it again. It is a nonsense.

Whilst a countback is a way of deciding a result, it doesn't make sense unless every one starts on the same hole.

No-one uses actual handicap for team events, clutching at straws there.
Agree with countback to a point but are you saying they should countback from each teams finishing hole? That's taking things a bit far isn't it?
Just accept that you took one shot too many, no?

We use decimal places for scrambles.

I don't know how you would split if you didn't use CB, maybe just combine the prize fund and split 3 ways. It isn't like there is a cup or anything. Just seems daft to split on countback in this instance.

Have accepted that we didn't win, as there's not alot we can do about it.
