This is often cited as vital at impact. That's fine.

A lot has to happen between address and impact though. So- why don't we address the ball with a flat left wrist?

for the club face to get back to good impact condition & for the hands, lead hand to set, trail hand to hinge & set well to then be able to use those levers going back to the top to create the 'angles' needed for a solid strike to have the best chance for all to be in optimum condition through impact.

for all this to happen (for most folks) that would mean when you looked down at the lead hand at address you'd looking at around 2&i1/2 knuckles - give or take a tad each way, (with the handle running at the bottom of the palms & more perpendicular to the fingers) & that would mean when viewed from face on the lead hand, back of, to forearm will be in a little ways extended condition, cupped.

the 'weaker' the lead hand the flatter it would look & vice-versa, the 'stronger' the more cupped.

often times the biggest issue with some folks having a 'bad' very flat lead wrist condition at address is because the handle is running high up mostly in the palm, which means it's impossible to set the lead hand/wrist going back so the trail hand/wrist won't function good either, leads to many swing motion & contact, shot direction issues.
