Well, having played today for the 1st time with my new Footjoy socks on, I can say with some certain that they most definitely work.
Three birdies and an eagle today to come home with 40 points (3 blobs) and my best round for a long, long time means that it can only have been the socks that did it.
Or it may be down to the fact that I hacked an inch off my driver and proceeded to hit every fairway? Either way, I'm not taking the risk, the socks are being worn from now on.

They might start to smell after a while.

I've got another glove to test.

Wonder if they've got any more socks? Mine don't seem to be as responsive as yours.

Is that the G10 with the V2 shaft that you've shortened?
Which holes did you get the birdies and eagle on? Some very good shooting there! :D

Socks my %$£%!

That's right Stu. I was going to get another driver, but I thought I'd have a wee experiment before I splashed out £150+
I put a couple of inches of lead tape on the sole to get the shaft working again and so far so good, but the absolute proof will be when the Hcp comes down.
I was playing Montrose today and birdied the 1st,5th and 15th. Eagling the 8th (drive & putt)

Me too, shame my scores didn't reflect the impact they had on my feet.

does taking an inch off really make that much distance? my dad was thinking of doing this but was advised otherwise by the pro at our club

I can't say if my distance suffered significantly, but I do know that I hit every fairway and gave myself loads of chances today.
Buy him a pair of FJ socks and if there's no difference, get the hacksaw out!

Taking an inch off the shaft will impact on the swingweight and shaft flex but only very slightly. Headspeed is unlikely to be massively affected but it can make a significant difference to control.

A lot of tour players play drivers in 44.5 or 44 inches rather than the retail norm of 45 inches or more.

Must look out some of those socks for myself if they have that effect. Could do with them next week at Dornoch.

If you are buying the socks, make sure you get the good ones. Mine look similar, but are lacking in the performance stakes. I shot 81 odd in mine, but they were definately not going low.

Have you looked at getting an inch cut off the top of them Murph?

It is indeed the ones marked L & R.

Atticus, did you have them on the right way round?

I might try rolling mine down a bit, see if it helps.

I too have another glove - but I can't tell you about it again.
Going to try my socks tomorrow - I feel a good round coming on!

There must be something in this. I too was wearing new socks yesterday (£5 for 8 pairs at CostCo) and played a blinder. Are there any scientists on here to explain this phenomenon?

Good shooting A_F. Bodes well.
