I got to thinking this morning about fitting sessions. We amateurs do not tend to take the same swing out twice so with this in mind wouldn't it be prudent to have 2 fittings over 2 days to get a mean average before a decision is made on the correct shaft/set up for you?

Last year I had a fitting in Glasgow with the recommendation of graphite senior flex shafts for my set of irons. The following week I had another fitting in Inverness and was recommended regular flex steel shafts. The steel regular have worked out great so I think you have a valid piont.

There are other possible explanations for the difference. Your swing may have been exactly the same on both occasions, but the fitter for the first possibly:

(a) was a muppet and cocked it up
(b) had a set of graphite senior flex he wanted to shift
or
(c) was one of those guys who favour the lightest and softest shaft you can get away with
