Tour Rookie
Played today in the Spring Vase, a 36 hole medal.
Went off like a train this morning, front 9 shot 39. Soon sorted that out with a back9 47 for a net 70. Pleased enough with this despite the back 9 meltdown.
PM round started well with a solid 44, level par with my handicap.
Back 9 was pretty good too, 42 strokes for another net 70. Won the comp by 2 shots.
so 4 under par over the 36 holes, my first piece of silverware and my name on the board in my first season. Also won 80 quid on my bar card.
Best bit is that with a CSS of 72 (am) and 73 (pm), I've been cut 1.5 shots and now have a handicap of 14.1.
well chuffed, now home and climbing into a lovely bottle of celebratory Rioja.
